[ Homura gave herself quite a few days to think this through. She's spent her time wandering the tower, thoroughly checking every corner for a way out and squashing any insecurity those letters brought about. It's quite likely that your character has not so much as seen her, given how Homura is presently not sure who she can trust in this tower and is being quite careful to avoid distractions.

But that isn't working. Not just that, but Madoka is here. It won't do to not check in on Madoka every once and a while, if only to give her 'friend' one less person to worry about. Plus, as much as she hates it, it has become clear that she can't get a total grasp on this place by herself. Homura would rather not learn everything from experience in such a dangerous place, and after watching the network terminal for a while she can see that the other users aren't so bad. No harm in trying, anyway. ]

A good day to you all. I am Homura Akemi. I have been here for less than a week. I understand those letters may have many of you uneasy right now, but I would appreciate any information you have to offer regarding the current situation.

[ Her mind gradually wanders. The letter being brought up allowed a pang of guilt to break through her thoughts, as well as a mental image of the other magical girls presumably not saved. Well, if Madoka is here and from such an early time like herself then maybe... ]

I saved their world by ending a war that threatened to use up all of the world's mana. [ He says that like he'd expect her to know what that means, but in essence, it would cause the entire world to wither and eventually die. ] They killed my sister for it, because we're half-elves.

As far as I'm concerned, whatever they say happened to my world... they deserve it.

[ She herself is guilty of some general hatred for Kyuubey and his race of emotionless aliens. But hearing someone say that they hate humans... ]

That alone solves nothing. It only prolongs the issues and suffering.

And now they're dead. It doesn't matter.

Such things are not solved by death.

However. As it should turn out, I am [ She almost said 'a human', until her eyes caught hold of the soul gem on her finger. Homura closes her mouth, swallowing her original word choice. ]

I was once human. I may not be the sort of company you wish to entertain much longer, even over this sort of device.

[ He was about to make a retort, when she showed him her Soul Gem. That... no way. That looked suspiciously like...

His hand came up to his chest, right about where his heart would be. He felt his Cruxis Crystal underneath it, hidden by his clothing. Was she... an angel, like himself? ]

... I... [ He's at a loss for words. But finally, he nods. ]

[ She is not quite sure what to make of that reaction. Has she insulted him? ]

I do not mean to be rude. I just don't want you to invest in a conversation that may be a waste in the end.

No... I don't think it will be a waste, after all.

[ A huff. ] Where are you at?

Library terminal.

Shall I wait for you?

Y-Yeah... I guess so.

[ ... And he's there. Ridiculously fast, too. As in, there's no way he could have walked that quickly. He shows up behind her, and huffs rather loudly. ]

... where did you get that crystal?

[ How's that for a conversation starter? ]

[ A strange start indeed. Homura is at first wanting to be more concerned with making sure that he is okay. She may not be the type to lean on others, but that does not mean that she doesn't care.

However, the question erases her concerns from her expression. She is not sure how honest to be with him. He already knows she isn't quite human, so she can at least reveal details up to that point. ]

An acquaintance made it. [ She transforms back into a regular girl. The crystal goes from being on her hand to an egg-like gem. Then shrinks down to a gem. ] Why?

[ ... welp, his Cruxis Crystal can't do that. He notices the change in her expression, indicating this isn't a topic she's too comfortable sharing. Well... under normal circumstances, his wouldn't be either. But he wasn't in this world, and had no real reason to hide what he was.

He reached up to the collar of his shirt, and stretched it downwards a bit, revealing the Cruxis Crystal on his chest, just about where his heart would be. It's... big. It took up almost the entire upper half of his sternum, and was a deep emerald color, adorned with a gold, metallic casing. ]

That's why.

[ Homura is surprised to see it. Her first thought might have been 'soul gem', but she's never seen a soul gem that large. Even Madoka's soul gem in recent timelines does not compare, despite Kyuubey's saying it would be the largest. ]

I take it you are not a magical girl. [ Because he's a boy. She realizes that mistake and is quick to correct it. ] That is not a soul gem?

Do I look like a girl? [ ... don't answer that. ] It's a Cruxis Crystal. But, yes, my soul inside of it.

[ It's because of that that he was able to save Martel, after all, even though her body is, for all intents and purposes, dead. If it wasn't for the Great Seed, she'd be gone for good, with her soul trapped with nowhere to go until her Crystal itself was destroyed. ]

[ Not answering that.

She frowns. A Cruxis Crystal, not a soul gem. But it sounds very similar. ]

It is the same in my case. My soul has been removed from my body and placed inside of this soul gem. It is the source of my magic. [ Homura holds out her hand, though she is now looking at the ring on her finger rather than Mithos. ] I'm sorry to hear you are in a similar position.

Don't apologize. I did it willingly. [ To himself, even. No contract required, though the process was irreversible. ] It was worth it.

[ Technically, as a half-elf, he had access to magic already due to his blood. Though the Cruxis Crystal turned his powers way up to elven, made him immortal, and gave him him wings. It wasn't hard to exploit all of that to found Cruxis as an organization, and made humans think they actually were angels who served a goddess. Which... was frankly only half true. All in all, yes; yes, he did think it was worth it. ]

It sounds like yours isn't quite as much of a good thing as mine.

It is not something I have any right to complain about.

[ Which is to say "I hate it" but at the same time "It doesn't matter if I hate it" ]

Why? Did you want it, too?

There was a wish that I wanted to have granted. This is the price of that miracle.
