Video; Mourn the Past, Strengthen the Present

Last month, I posted to the Network asking for those who would be willing teach others how to fight--both with and without powers--to contact me. Many of you were willing to share your talents with those who needed them, and I thank you very much for that.

[Diarmuid smiles and bows his head for a moment before continuing.]

However, aside from a few people who I have already helped find teachers, I haven't really heard from anyone who would like to take advantage of the skills that have been offered. I understand that many of you have probably already found teachers amongst those who you know. For those who still might be looking, I thought that I would post a list of those who offered their services so you can take advantage of them should you ever wish to.

I will warn you, though, that most of these people are battle-hardened warriors and do not pull their punches. If you take them up on their offers, please be prepared to work your hardest. They will expect no less and those who you are fighting for deserve no less.

Here is the list. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Since I know most of the people on the list, if you are unsure who you should contact, I will be glad to direct you to a teacher.

Teacher List:

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Spear and sword focused. Duel-wield specialty. Can teach all levels of fighters.
Mayu: Armed Combat. Axe focus.
Cerberus: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Knowledgeable with almost all weapons. Specialty in modern weapons.
Saber of White: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Sword specialty.
Aleph: Teaches armed combat.  Knows melee weapons.  Sword specialty.
Sir Lancelot du Lac: Teaches armed and unarmed combat. Specialty in non-traditional weapons.
Ken Amada:  Teaches armed combat.  Specialty in spears and improvising weapons.
Enoch: Skilled in the use of slings. Also skilled in making them.

If anyone would like to be added to the list, please feel free to let me know. Also, let me know if you would like the information listed by your names altered in anyway or wish to be removed from the list.  This list isn't a static thing by any means.

On a sadder note, for any of you who knew Mami Tomoe, it has come to my attention that she has been sent home. I know she was close to many people. She left me a cookie recipe and since Riki has given us such a good selection of food this month, I can think of no better way to honor her memory than to bake some of the sweets she made so well. Anyone who would like to join me is welcome, though, I cannot guarantee my cookies will be anywhere near as good as the ones she made.  I--

[For a moment it seems like Diarmuid will continue, but after a few seconds, he just shakes his head and ends the feed.]

[A smirk suddenly crosses Diarmuid's face.]

I suppose this means I should really kick up your kissing lessons, hu? After all, I'm going to be the one directly benefiting from them...

That does sound like an idea. But first I think we should finish what we started here, don't you?

You mean my grand quest to destroy the kitchen single-handedly?

[Diarmuid laughs, kissing the top of Waver's hand lightly once more before letting it go.]

I suppose we should. Come show me how it's really done, Mo Stór. It can't actually be as hard as I am making it.

It doesn't look that way, though I admit this is nothing I have experience with. Although judging by the recipe, it seems like a simple form of chemistry.

[Diarmuid picks up the recipe and looks it over, frowning slightly.]

I don't know if cooking is really like chemistry... Well, maybe modern cooking is and that is my problem. I know cooking in the past wasn't really like that, but we didn't have so many options either.

It doesn't look that much unlike a chemical formula or instructions for alchemy.

...Except for the part where none of these are actual chemicals, strictly speaking.

Well, they are all made out of 'chemicals' in different forms...right?

[A clearly confused look crosses his face as he tries to understand some information from the Grail and fails...miserably.]

Maybe not...

You're thinking too hard about it.

[Waver smirked, double-checking to make sure everything was added properly and in the correct amounts.]

Here--mix all of this together and then we just have to worry about not burning anything.

Okay.

[Diarmuid takes the bowl from Waver and does as he asks, giving the oven an evil look as he does.]

You should probably check and see if the stupid thing changed temperatures again when I wasn't looking.

[No, Diarmuid, that was probably less to do with the oven being stupid and more to do with someone bumping the dial as he is apt to do...]

I will.

[He leaned over to double-check everything was in working order--seemed fine, as far as he could tell.]

Don't worry about making mistakes with this sort of thing. I'm used to explaining technology, though maybe not to this extent.

I fear I will never grow used to all this technology. Some of it I can use okay. I really don't have issues with the Network, for example.

[Diarmuid gives the oven another disgruntled look.]

But that thing... It just hates me. Perhaps, it knows I would rather just have an open fire...

I'm reasonably sure an oven is not capable of emotion, so try not to worry about it hating you.

[Diarmuid raises an eyebrow at Waver.]

Think of where we are Waver. I am not reasonably sure of anything here. For all we know, at night it turns into some kind of fire breathing monster.

[He holds the bowl out toward Waver.]

Stirred. Now what?

...Good point.

[Sighing, he glanced at the recipe again before taking the bowl.]

We just have to separate it into individual parts, put them in the oven, and then try not to burn the damn things. I can take care of that much, I think.

You don't want me to help?

[It's probably for the best, but Diarmuid can't help but sound a little disappointed.]

[He'd already set up a few soon-to-be cookies on a tray when Diarmuid said that, and Waver paused to look over his shoulder. It wasn't as though the oven was directly involved yet, right?]

...no, you're right. You should take care of the rest of this if you want. Just let me handle putting them in the oven so there's a slightly lower chance of us burning anything, is that fair?

Sounds fair to me. I would like to be able to say I contributed to making more than just the mess.

[He laughs and then sets to work putting the rest of the cookies on the pan. Diarmuid is actually glad for the few Waver already has on the pan because it gives him an idea of how big they should be. Once he's done, he grins back at Waver. How he managed to get cookie dough on his nose is a curious thing, but considering that is the only place besides the pan he has gotten the dough, it's actually an improvement.]

Done!

Excellent. [Waver checked the temperature on the oven once more to be sure before carefully picking up the pan full of not-quite-yet-but-almost cookies. Treating the entire kitchen like it was either made out of glass or wired to explode, he leaned over with an absurd amount of caution and placed it in the oven, quickly straightening up and shutting the door with a relieved sigh.]

There--the hard part's done for now.

[Diarmuid picks the recipe up off the counter and reads over it for a moment before speaking.]

It says they should cook for ten minutes. So what do we do for ten minutes?

[fionnuisce]

Wait, I would assume. Knowing our luck we'll turn around for ten seconds and start a fire.

You're probably right. Though, just waiting is boring.

[He might be whining, just a little.]

I suppose I should start cleaning up this mess and hope I don't make it any worse in the process...

[fionnuisce]

Good idea. Let me help you with that.

Not that I don't appreciate the offer, but...

[Diarmuid pauses in his work to look back over his shoulder at the oven.]

Do you think it's wise for us both to stop watching it?

[fionnuisce]

We'll just check on it every couple of minutes. It...should be fine, probably.

[oathshackledbird]

I hope so. I would hate to lose our hard work so close to being done.

[Diarmuid turns back to the counter and then sighs and shakes his head.]

How did I make such a mess? There is flour everywhere...
