On my world, demons often have 'summoners' in times of hardship or places of strife. The demons supposedly serve the summoner but it's more like a partnership. It's the demon who chooses to make the agreement to fight alongside them. A group can accomplish more than any single person can, human or demon.

I was thinking that I'll have been here a year soon, and I don't see how this could be more a time of hardship.
