[Asagi sighs, and shrugs, leaning back in her chair as she always is.]

[She kicks her feet down and leans forward, chin on her hands, feigning attentiveness.]

Tell me then- what's your good end for the tower? What do you boys and girls out there hope winds up happening when the clock hits zero on our time here?

The plants are a nice atmosphere, aren't they?

[He bows and offers her his hand.]

[She takes the offered hand though, straightening her shirt idly.]

At least we don't have to worry about the stupid mermaids anymore.

[He makes a face.]

I've heard about those things. They did pretty nasty shit to you.

[The hand not in his settles on his shoulder, and she shrugs idly.]

Shame. The ones I read about weren't always quite as bad.

[He places his free hand around her waist.]

So what were the ones you read about like?

Well, it depends where you go, I guess. Some of them were supposed to be pretty alright- just curious, mostly. You know, accidentally kidnapping or drowning people because they wanted to know more about them.

[A shrug, and she takes a step closer.]

Some of them though... some of them sank whole ships for shits and giggles.

[A slight pause, and then-]

Or for food.

Second one sounds like the fae from my time. Only the fae lived everywhere. Not just in water.

...There's fae here too, you know. That other meadow floor. I haven't seen them kill anyone yet, but who knows.

[irreverence]

Man, fae are dicks. You'd think people would get that most faerie tales are cautionary, one way or another.

[She squeezes his shoulder and shrugs.]

But whatever. Here's hoping they can't leave that floor, right?

[A raise of an eyebrow.]

Should I hum us a waltz?

[puppy_lancer]

Yeah, here's hoping.

[His face lights up as he hears her offer.]

Sure. And I bet it'll sound better than anything that can be played on an instrument.

[She settles into position and begins to hum a certain waltz... though before long, she's actually singing quietly as she lets Lancer lead the waltz.]

[Everything Lancer knows about waltzing, he learned from the floor with the masquerade. His waltz is a little clumsy, but at least he doesn't step on her feet much.]

[As they twirl around, he starts humming alongside her.]

Nice song. Where'd you learn it?

[She appreciates that much- her own waltz isn't spectacular, but there's no danger of them tripping over each other, at least.]

An old movie, actually.

[She leans up a bit, kissing his cheek.]

Never thought I'd have reason to sing it though.

Must've been a good movie. We should watch it sometime.

[He bends down to kiss her forehead.]

I'll try to give you more opportunities to sing that from now on. And other songs too.

[She rolls her eyes a little at him.]

I'm not much of a singer you know. But if you really want, I guess I can oblige.

I'd definitely like to hear more. And if you get tired of singing, I could always take a turn. Though, I don't know how to sing any waltzes.

...well, I guess I don't mind.

[She shrugs and leans closer.]

Just... don't go announcing that kinda stuff to everyone. Waltzes aren't necessary though.

It'll be our special secret. I promise.

Somehow, I don't think it'll be a hard secret to keep.

[He laughs.]

What, do you think nobody would believe you can sing?

Well, that and I doubt my singing prowess is going to be a subject that comes up in conversation.

Only if anyone asks who has the best voice in the entire Tower.

I doubt that's me, but I guess being a biased party, you'd disagree.

[A put-upon sigh, and when she picks up her hum, it's a different tune.]
