If you know these names, then you know that to encounter any of these trolls is dangerous at best, and very likely to be fatal.

To be honest, I feel partly responsible. Since they arrived in the tower, I have tried to show them that the hemospectrum doesn't give them the right to cull indiscriminately, that there are other ways of dealing with people that are more constructive, and even beneficial to them. All three of them have rejected this notion, and while I do have hope that they might come around eventually, we cannot allow them to simply continue to treat the tower - and the people here - as their own personal sporting arena.

But I'm just one troll, and I'm not a very big one. I need help, I need a plan. And taking revenge upon them is not going to make a positive difference in this situation.

So please. Is there anyone here who can do something to, at least temporarily, make them stop killing? Maybe if they can start to feel what it's like to be powerless, they can begin to relate to those of us whom they have held down for so long.

I don't want to hurt them, and I believe anyone else in this tower who engages in violence should be dealt with in the same way. This tower is our home, at least for now, and if we are all going to live here, I think it's time to lay down some groundrules, and figure out how to enforce them.

Well...this is sort of embarrassing, but Dualscar made some pretty strong advances on me a few months ago. Black ones, but definitely of a romantic kind, not just trying to cull me. I was wondering if you think he might have been serious, or if he's ever mentioned me...or anything.

Not that I am aware of... though I do not think he's actually made any earnest advances in that quadrant with anyone else. I believe 'inherent hatred of most beings' is rather his default setting.

Right, I thought that might be true. I just wasn't sure if maybe his hatred for me was special. There's a difference between general hatred and contempt for most beings, and a romantic hatred.

I had figured as much, though I am not as well-versed in the finer points of it as I more than likely should be.

However, I do not believe you have anything to worry about as of yet. Insofar as I am aware, his hatred of you is quite singularly unique when compared to his hatred for most everything else.

Well, if it is any consolation, neither have I.

But in all honesty, I am not quite certain what to make of your species' black quadrants. It seems rather... unhealthy.

Maybe it is. [His voice is wry] It may be a product of our twisted society, not something that we naturally do. I don't know... But there may be something to it, too. To having someone who can challenge you, whom you have a rivalry with. I don't know if Dualscar feels that way about me, or if he just hates me more than everyone else.

I take it that the latter is not the way it is meant to be at all, then?

No, not exactly. Kismeses aren't supposed to want to kill each other. That sort of defeats the romance aspect of it.

To be fair, I believe murder is another of his unfortunate defaults.

It is where I will do my best, though I do not know how effective I will be, in the long run.

I'm sure you can do it, Chidori. It's not really that hard. The key is that they trust you. Then you can get in there when they're distressed and distract them long enough for them to calm down.

The problem with Dualscar is not so much a matter of trust as it is of stubbornness and pretense.

But he does trust you, doesn't he?

Then you can do it. When he goes into murder mode, get in the way. Talk to him soothingly. Distract him. Get him doing something else.
