[ Have a robot, guys. Text begins appearing on the Network at a ridiculously fast speed; no one can type this fast. ]
We are Legion, a terminal of the Geth and integrated member of the Normandy SR2, a Cerberus frigate run by the human known as Commander Shepard. We have downloaded all external data from this Network that was not blocked or filtered through other channels presently inaccessible to our hard drive. We have spoken with several "captives" thusfar.
However, there are still inquiries that we would desire data on. Thusfar, our research has proven that some of the lifeforms here are capable of self-defense, but not all of them. The creatures here can prove extremely dangerous. As such, we would like information on whether or not accurate Mass Effect field generators have been created to allow adequate shielding from shell damage.
We would also like to know if weapons production has been studied. We could reproduce or aid in the manufacturing of organic-friendly firearms that would not need ammo, and would run on energy instead. This would be conservative due to the limited amount of ammunition in this place.
The "trunk" with which we were given has spare parts and Elements. With help, we could reproduce Geth shielding technology and armaments, if this is desirable among the others captive here. If this is of any interest to others, we await your replies.
We will be stationed on the twenty-seventh floor for in-person inquiries if deemed necessary.

Acknowledged. You have connections to other people here moreso than we presently do. We would like to work with you in this matter. Those here need proper armament and defense.
[text]
[text]
We could also give you copies of the data on several different Geth weapon models that use energy and the Mass Effect field generator models, if it will aid in creation of new technologies for those here.
[voice]
There are no accepted methods of impacting mass or altering it on this world, that they have allowed us to know about. Likewise, energy-based weaponry does have much basis here- it seems to be largely in the realm of psychokinesis. In this sense, any form of shielding or armamental technology would be advantageous.
What do you have available? I am not wise with electronics and the like, but I may be able to aid in other areas of the process.
[Like the WHEE I AM NOT THE ONLY ALIEN HERE WHO COMPREHENDS SPACIAL SCIENCES part.]
[Text]
[Voice]
Hi, uh...I think I understood most of that aside from the "Mass Effect" part.
[voice]
Acknowledged. We are not surprised by this, there is a distinct lack of Element Zero on this facility. We have several elements available as well as spare parts of most types, and could easily recreate all but the elements. Those would need to be found, but fortunately, altering mass to create shielding or weaponry would not require a lot of Element Zero and could be substituted for electricity of different kinds.
We can list the specifics if this would aid in understanding.
[ AKA this junk as well as it's memory banks and inherent skills. ]
[Text]
We will need materials, though for now we should have plenty of them. Only certain metal alloys will be needed for weaponry. This is not the problem. The main problem is that adaptation to other forms of technology from our own would need to occur.
In short, it would need to be a hybrid of different systems and components.
[Voice]
We will attempt to explain in simpler terms. Mass Effect fields have to do with using Element Zero. This is a rare material that when subjected to an electrical current, releases dark energy which can be manipulated into a Mass Effect field that will be able to alter the mass of objects within it, such as raising or lowering it. As such, it makes effective shielding when grouped with electronic or biotic fields and armor.
While I am not familiar with Element Zero by name, I can infer you are discussing relativistic mass in relation to abnormal velocities and the use of anti- or dark-matter energies. My own source of mass alteration has been limited since arriving in this tower...which has also caused my form some degree of duress.
[He gave a sad sort of smile, pressing his hand to his collarbone.] Nonetheless, I am Al Suha. Even if it extends beyond the reaches of my corner of the cosmos, I would like to help any way I can. Sadly, I am only able to specifically donate hydrogen and helium in any significant quantity. I'm not sure what other elements comprise my major chemistry, to be blunt.
You are correct. Element Zero is able to manipulate mass through dark energy. It is generated when solid matter is affected by the energy of a star going supernova. Electric currents can be used in conjunction with it to create what is known as a Mass Effect field, a field that can lower or raise the mass of things within it when given a negative or positive charge.
You are made up of similar materials to that of most stars are. We are certain there would be workarounds present, though some research and trial and error would be necessary. If your ability to alter or manipulate mass accurately has been damaged, Element Zero could be a solution to this problem.
[text]
Affirmative. I have ports that can make the data transfer faster. When would you like to meet?
vid+locked
...I am the star Alcor, one of the Septentriones composing the Earth-seen "Big Dipper" asterism. As many of the other organic beings here have taken confusion to this fact, I would appreciate if you would not mention such to others.
[editted to include 'text' though it's pretty obvious]
anyway
some of the critters knock out your ability to do Cool Things just by being near them
(generally, info pools on the monsters are really sad and piddly. it's a big problem, and the watch group that used to be around broke off into a lot of little nearly solo things)
but if it's tech it might work, so have ats
[SUPERFILTERED unhackable because machine]
If you are concerned about potential damage, that will not happen. We will find workarounds.
[ To the whole eezo thing, that is. Element Zero. Besides, it's not just stars; as long as the thing has collapsed in some form super-heavy-duty, it'll work. ]
Information has been locked and filed into our secure data stores. We understand your reluctance to be truthful, as many organics view those unlike them with great suspicion. We cannot blame them, though it has led many times to unnecessary confrontation.
[ Sadly, Legion can't avoid that because it can't change how it looks. ]
[text]
We have no problems observing said hostile life. We are capable of making tactical cloaking systems as well for research purposes if this would be preferable. Geth cloaking technology is reliable and steady until it is turned off.
[text]
Shielding is not exactly armor. It is like it, but it is closer to a barrier. It can self-repair quickly and automatically, unlike armor that has to be replaced or has been damaged.
[text]
pretty awesome
...
but what about the giant skinless blind horror lizards
I think they might not really care how invisible you are
[text]
This platform is well-equipped in the event of self-defense becoming necessary. Shields and rifles, hacking, and if necessary brute force are also perfectly acceptable.
[text]
you just said a beautiful word that I would like to talk to your more about,
starts with an h ends with a "Jason go back to plotting horrible things to do to us and stop reading"
you said 27th floor earlier, right?
[text]
[ It's being deliberately careful now as it can tell Sayaka has confidential things to discuss AWAY from administrative prying eyes. ]
[text -> action]
[Ten minutes was really just an overly hopeful estimate. Sayaka looks at her surroundings - floor three - with a bit of exasperation. Okay, so she just has to go down to floor one, then take the elevator to twenty one... and from there it's just six staircases. She's had worse.
Going back to the lab level is weirdly nostalgic.. she hasn't really hung out here ever since starting the information gathering project. Sayaka takes sweeping looks around as she attempts to spot anyone that looks like a 'Legion' sounds. She turns a bit too quickly away from any of the isolated chambers you can see windows into, here and there.]
Yo. Legion? Snake? Snake? Snaaaaaaake...
text
Hello. Forgive me, but I do not understand most of the things you have said [and also you type too fast] but if there is any way I can help, I would like to. Thank you.
[perma-action] omg sayaka i cannot handle you?
We sure hope this thing fits your bill of the idea of "what a Legion" looks like. Because it's presently got a Holographic Computer Thingy™ (highly scientific term) running and also has two guns on the table, some weird canister, a bunch of weird clips that look like ammunition packs for a gun, and... other stuff you can't quite make out because it's parts mostly?
When Sayaka speaks, it doesn't look away from it's work, but it does respond, although the response is flippant; it plays video games, actually, Sayaka... ]
Solid Snake. He was an interesting human character from the video game series Metal Gear. It is one of the games from Earth's past we would have liked to see. The concepts within were interesting.
[ This is just idle chatter, though. It turns it's head-lamp-thing toward Sayaka (but purposefully dims the light so, hah, it doesn't BLIND her) and the small "iris" type shutter closes before opening again. The Omni-Tool (or Holographic Computer Thingy™) is still in use, and a barrier is set up around them that crackles to life not unlike some of the things magic can do, just... with technology. It's not malevolent, however. ]
We have created an Anti-Personnel barrier and Anti-Hacking measures to prevent unwanted attention and overhearing of confidential matters on this floor for your protection. We assume that your desire is to discuss means of combating the Administrators of this facility.
[text]
There is no need for forgiveness. If you do not understand the terminology, you simply have not been made aware of it. We could explain if it would help.
We are attempting to determine a baseline on the defensive levels of those captive in this facility. Data thusfar has shown there to be only 26.72 percentage of proper armaments and protection, though this is only an estimate. We would like to increase this number by providing weapons and shielding, though we are still in the prototype phase of adaptation for mass production. In short, we desire to arm and protect those who are in need of it.

Sertoria Cani has offered her assistance as well. Mutual cooperation would be the most productive route.
text
I would appreciate that, though I am afraid that I may not understand most of it. Where I am from, we did not even have these devices.
I see. That is a noble goal.
[SUPERFILTERED unhackable because badass robutt]
[text]
[SUPERFILTERED because we're cool non-humans is why]
We concur with this. Oftentimes organics do not understand that different sapient life does not mean them harm. They fear what they do not understand. This caution is merely for basic survival. You are fortunate that you are able to blend in with them quite well; you should not have many problems unless there is a large data leak.
If you should need help, however, we would return the favor. For now, we have others offering assistance, so we will work slowly toward the goals of arming and self-defense for all here.
