i mean it was kind of terrifying the first time
and maybe even the second time
but at this point its like the hugest fucking waste of time to be stuck lying on your bed waiting to get feeling to your fingers again
but now im curious
what is the longest you got stuck lying in bed for
like an approximate if you werent sure of the exact time

[Dave doesn't go through all the floors, but goes through the ones he frequents the most. He does finally stop when they get to the floating island floor, though.]

[And John nearly runs smack into Dave looking at the area instead of where he's going. His immediate reaction is to backpedal upward, so he takes a step backward and then sort of hovers his way a few inches off the ground. He holds his hands out like he was stopping himself from running into Dave anyway, and goes back to gawping.]

This place is cool as shit.

[Dave just kind of goes near the edge and sits down.]

We're done with the tour for now. You have plenty of time to get your sorry ass lost. If you haven't already looked around.

I guess the place is cool to make up for all the shit that keeps happening here.

[The air stirs a little as John comes over to sit with him, still floating and floating himself right over the edge of where Dave is sitting, then leaning back and settling his butt back on the ground.]

...Yeah. Still cool as shit, though. [He leans sideways, bumping his shoulder into Dave's.]

[Dave just bumps back a bit.]

The novelty wears off really quickly. You find your favorite floors and basically abscond to them whenever you're feeling like the tower is trying to eat you whole.

That's pretty often, if you weren't sure. Just thought I'd put that out there.

[He just pushes his weight back into Dave's shoulder, falling into a companionable silence.]

[Dave kind of just lets him that time, kind of staring off. Even with the shades obscuring his eyes, Dave seems kind of tired.

Today has been some emotional roller coaster, that's for sure.]

[He tries again, pressing his weight a little harder into Dave's shoulder.]

Doing okay over there, space cadet Strider?

[Dave just shrugs.]

Same old, same old. Nothing new. [He came back from being dead, John. What do you think?]

I'm still getting used to the quiet, pensive side of Dave Strider. I'm too used to the rambling shitty rapping side.

Fuck off, I can be very quiet if I want too. [The quieter side of Dave is more prevalent than not, which might be worrisome, honestly.] Just because you can't believe it, doesn't mean it's not true.

Well, all right, that's fair, I've only known you in person for like. I dunno a couple of weeks. I don't know if you talk in person like you do online. But I'm also just giving you shit because you're easy as hell to rile.

You an go back to whatever stupid thing you arrived in on. You're dead to me. Why am I best friends with such a jackass? I ask myself this every night as I lie in bed wondering my life choices. How did I convince myself that goober John Egbert would be my best friend? He's actually a huge butt mcassholepants to me all the time. Sheesh. I deluded myself for so long that you'd one day get better. My entire life is now a lie.
