So I know this is kind of coming on the tail end of a big reveal I don't fully understand - I'm new here so I won't bother pretending I really understand everything about the bullcrap that just happened and ill leave that to the geniuses who do - but considering the reaction it to it brings up a question I've had for a while.
Can someone evil become good? Redeemed I guess is the word. And I don't want to debate crap like what evil and good is because if you don't know the difference you're an idiot.
I guess I just want to see if anyone thinks its something you can change about yourself. If someone who was always evil could eventually become good.
It's just
Interesting to think about I guess.

It's just. I haven't changed in a long time. And then I started to.
And sometimes I wonder if it'll last. Like I want it to last but.
Sometimes it's like I don't know if I get to decide if it does or not.

When it's a good guy hurting others it's because they're killing off the bad guys. And that's fine. That's, like, what heroes do. It's part of what makes them heroes. And if bad guys perform acts of kindest it's to manipulate someone.
I mean that's how it goes.
[Have fun trying to explain subjective morality to a kid stuck in the mindset of objective morality despite seeing it isn't true.]
[Text]
That is what I am trying to explain. There is no wholly 'good guy' or 'bad guy'. People are both. So, as to your two examples, it would be a guy killing off people who would hurt others, and a guy performing an act of kindness, even if he is planning to manipulate someone. Besides..while I do not like and would never personally manipulate someone, some people have good reasons for doing so.
[chaos is thinking about Wilhelm while typing up that last part. And note the difference between 'good' and 'bad' people and good and bad reasons.]

I've seen bad people change for the better with my own eyes, and that's why I am willing to trust people who are "evil".
[permatext]
Like some might try and do good things, but are doing it just because they want you to think they're good.

DIFFERENT CULTURES HAVE DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS OF GOOD AND EVIL AND IF YOU FAIL TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT
THEN MAYBE YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO CHANGE SOMEONE'S DISPOSITION AND/OR WAY OF LIFE.

What I wanted was a culture argument.
I don't care about what your culture accepts as good and evil. There are things that are inherently right and inherently wrong and if you're going to try and talk to me about how you're part of some culture that embraces and loves murder or some crap I don't want to hear about it.
You want to be happy with that culture, or whatever your culture is? That's your business. But it ain't mine. Get it out of my face.

It won't happen over night though.
[Redemption is a hard road to travel; Riku would know.]

But when do you know? I mean. Do you ever know if you've really changed, I guess? Like you can always think you have.
But you could also be wrong.

Not always easily, voluntarily, or without consequences, but it's never impossible- only unlikely.
Re: text
But sometimes it can just...happen, right? And maybe you don't even realize it's happening.

it could take a lot of time and a lot of hard work
and depending on what the person did, it might take a while for them to gain peoples trust
but yes, i think its possible!
[text]
Why do you think it's possible?

But I do think people's motivations can change, and their outlook too. Actually, I once knew a guy who was one of the cruelest, most insane people I'd ever met. He pretty much hated everyone. He's still not exactly a philanthropist, but he's someone I can almost call a friend.

But sometimes I guess. I can imagine change can happen.
