001 Spells Cast//Video/Action\\

[Jade's finally awake, but he doesn't feel like he is. As the sleep paralysis wears off slowly, Jade becomes aware he's not in his own room. Nothing felt right, not to mention that he never slept in his uniform, even if it wasn't the complete thing. When he could move, Jade pushed himself up in the bed, wincing as his joints made complaints at the sudden movement. Seeing the notes, he picked up the first and glanced it over briefly, a frown crossing his face. Immediately concerned, Jade tried to get out of bed, only to have the lingering effects of the sleep paralysis turn him into a jumbled mess of blankets on the floor.

When he's finally back up, muttering to himself about the damn situation, he seems to search for something and finds the collar around his neck. After a few good minutes of attempting to remove it or find some sort of catch, Jade gives up and he's heading to the door. When he opens it, he leans on the doorframe and rubs his eyes before he surveys the area.

This was entirely abnormal and Jade did not like it one bit. There seemed to be people around, so he wasn't the only one who'd apparently been kidnapped. The Tower? Auldrant was destroyed..? No, there had to be some other explanation. He wasn't stopped, so he assumed the environment wasn't as hostile as he'd initially thought.

Jade finally spotted a Terminal in his searching. Being at least somewhat decent at technology, he approached it and began to fiddle with it, figuring out just what to do with it and how in a few minutes. He didn't have control of the system, so 'Corpse Hunt' was certainly not a command he could use. Too bad this wasn't the Tartarus.

When he did figure out the video function, Jade appeared over the network with a stern expression, the dishevelment from before smoothed out.]

This Commander Jade Curtiss requesting to be properly informed on the situation immediately.

[Even if this was going to result in setting off an alarm, he'd get some reaction from the place that would explain the situation a bit better. At the very least, he'd get some answers.]

[She followed along.]

The ones I have met are. Several have offered to help me get acquainted with the workings of the tower.

...However, many appear to be ill. There is a virus going around.

Is it a permanent thing or just a small epidemic?

[If people would offer him the same thing, he'd be obliged to figure everything out. He didn't like the lack of control of his situation.]

[Tear didn't like it either, but a lot of what she had heard was speculation. No one had any definite answers, and she had yet to find any for herself.]

It seems like a normal flu. The people I've come across who are ill have refused any help. But it was obvious they were unwell.

[When they came to the elevator, she stopped.]

The elevator doesn't stop at every floor. Just the bottom floor, and two other floors in between. The dormitories are the top floors, and the cafeteria is the bottom floor.

There are floors other than those?

[If so, Jade was curious as to the avoidance of the other floors. However, he pressed the call button for the elevator and waited, turning to Tear again.]

I assume they simply don't want to inconvenience anyone. Either that or it's something that can't be helped by outside sources.

Yes, many.

[When the elevator doors open, she entered, then turned to Jade again.]

I'm not sure if it's possible to travel from one end to the other without the elevator. I tried exploring, but I had to turn back when I--

[She paused for a moment, recomposing herself. She didn't want to admit that she had been scared by a room full of bloody hand prints and screaming but...]

reached a floor where it was too dark to continue.

[That works.]

[Jade frowned until her sudden cutoff. He remembered her fear of ghosts but said nothing to her past that.]

I wonder if it's possible to leave the elevator and climb the shaft to one of the closed floors.

[He looked at the buttons and clicked one that could take him to the bottom floor at the cafeteria.]

I'd like to check out that corridor, though. If they're hiding something there, I'd like to find out.

....That was 17 floors up from the cafeteria.

[Oh god, maybe he would get distracted by the the cafeteria and they wouldn't have to go there.]

Alright.

[Jade waited patiently. She'd mentioned something about the oatmeal, but Jade wasn't hungry for anything right now, much less oatmeal. He stood straight, arms crossed over his chest as he quieted and thought.]

[She waited quietly as well, dreading more tower exploration. She was a little envious of Luke then, since he'd said he didn't often venture into other parts of the tower.

But when the doors opened, she stepped out.]

Luke told me that the cafeteria menu states which administrator is in charge of the tower for the month. I'm not sure what that means, aside from the type of food available.

[Jade followed, hands moving into his pockets.]

If that's all they did, I wouldn't understand the fear they seem to put into everyone.

[A bit of humor, despite the situation.]

Luke didn't give me the specifics... Aside from implying that they perform cruel experiments.

[Then again, think about nutrition bars for a solid month... It's a little scary.]

[Great. That sounds. Great.]

This Tower doesn't live up to its proclamation of salvation.

[She nodded, as they arrived at the oatmeal receiving area... whatever.]

I'll wait for you to eat.

[Jade made a bit of a... negative expression at that.]

I'll pass. I'm not quite hungry.

[Not for oatmeal. Plus, he couldn't eat before finding out more. Curiosity trumps appetite.]

You should keep your strength up.

[Old people need their nutrition, okay?]

I feel strong as I am now. Eating oatmeal will hardly give me any boost.

[Sometimes old people don't want to eat mush.]

[She relented with a shrug, and turned away from the food.]

[Jade followed, looking around as he went.

You can't avoid the hallway forever.]

[Are you sure?

She stopped at the stairs, and looked at Jade to see if he wanted to start the climb. Because she wasn't too excited about it.]

[Pretty sure.

He heads up the stairs easily enough, looking around and keeping alert.]

[FINE JADE, FINE.

She headed up with him, passing the infirmary and the library, since those were pretty standard rooms, and they weren't pertinent to the current goals. She did stop on the fourth floor though, and moved over to the windows that stretched the entire length of the room.]

Every time I've come through here, there's fog outside like this. It's impossible to tell where this tower is. Or how tall it really is.

Jade followed her and looked out the windows, frowning. It was took thick to be cleared with any of his artes, and even so, it might not give him any indication of where they were. He stayed there, quiet and thinking and frustrated, face impassive.]

[She stared outside for another moment or two, remaining silent. Then turned to continue their climb once more. They passed the indoor forest, and the giant swimming pool, then the maze. And it was on that floor where she hesitated. The next floor wasn't exactly one she enjoyed.]

[The sense of foreboding was settling, and Jade was glad to move again, following her as he kept thinking. As they passed floors, Jade inspected them briefly before he continued moving. When she stopped, Jade looked towards the next floor, then back to her.]

I take it the next floor is the one you had problems with earlier.

N-no... I was just making sure you were keeping up.

[She clenched her jaw and marched ahead, onto the next floor. The stairs were dimly lit, but there was nothing but total darkness in the room itself. She began to climb just a little quicker, pointedly keeping her eyes on the stairs, not giving the darkness even a glance.]
