Not having a soul could at least have benefits to it. I'm sure a person could figure out how to get some change back from that deal.

I wonder what the cost would be, though.

Depends on what it is, you know. For example, a prayer for hope will lead to the spread of an equal amount of despair. The two combine to reach equilibrium and comes zero. That's how the world holds its balance.
