his name is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
he's a hero from the same country as me
and he's my older brother
he's pretty much an ideal knight
handsome, courteous, gentle, and honorable
and he used to be married to a princess so i think he'd know how to treat one
with the proper respect

HAHAHA GOOD JOB ON CONVINCING HER LANCER WTG

[ LONGEST. OF PAUSES. IN REPLYING. ]

... If he is a knight I suppose it is acceptable, then.

... I am sure this will make Tetra happy, at any rate.

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-10 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
got a good day for it?
can you ask zelda when she's free?
ocariness: (Um... hmmm.)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-10 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I can ask her yes

... It might take some convincing but I will figure something out and come back to you. I will have to see what she is doing. How long in advance do you need to prepare, do you think?
puppy_lancer: from <user name=aicons> (When summer's in the meadow)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-10 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
oh a week or two i guess
depends on how long it takes for me to convince my brother
and if he's doing good
sometimes...
it's like life wants to torture him
he suffers more than he should
ocariness: (Downcast; sadness.)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-10 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
... Ah, then he is a lot like Zelda.

Life has not been kind to her. She deserves so much better than she gets. I can understand why you want to make his life better. I am sure we can work something out, though Zelda is the type to insist she is not worth it or that it's petty or childish.

... I... know it is not.
puppy_lancer: the-man-of-light@tumblr (Down a bóithrín green came a sweet maid)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-10 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
that sounds like something he would say
he always thinks that he doesn't deserve the love people give him
or that he's not as good of a knight as he is
and he always calls his own feelings silly
and i know it not the way he says it is

so i guess at least they'd understand each other

it's up to heroes like us to protect them, though
right?
fight for them so they won't suffer anymore?

[Fight for him, hug and comfort him, push his own negative feelings into the back of his mind so he can stand strong for Diarmuid...Lancer would do anything for his brother.]
ocariness: (Vanishing act.)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-10 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
... Of course it is.

Someone has to. Someone has to care about the person and not their responsibilities. Even if she can protect herself fine and did so for seven years, for many of which she was but a child, I promised I would do all I could to protect Zelda as a friend.

As a person.

... She means the world to me and I cannot let her be this disillusioned. There must be something we can do. If this is it, then Goddesses, I suppose I will be fine with it.
puppy_lancer: from <user name=aicons> (And down the mountain side)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-10 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
ouch
that sounds tough
guess some heroes and princesses have to start early
i'm glad she has you though
even kings are people

i can understand what you're saying
i would do the same for my brother
he didn't have to live as zelda did
but in the modern time too few have seen him as a person
even his master that he devoted his life to betrayed him
and he's so honorable that it's easy for people to take advantage of him
so for all that he's a hero he needs someone to stand by him

whatever we have to do
if this is what i have to do for him then i'm fine with it too
ocariness: (Hurting.)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-10 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
... You are a decent person.

I am sorry for doubting you.

I suppose I am a little over-protective of her. She waited for me a long time. And then held my hand as I fumbled through my stupid quest, watching the people around me perish so that we might take Ganondorf down.

Not much good it did; as you can see, he is alive and well here, in a manner of speaking. If he did not exist, she would not be this way at all. And it infuriates me. That it is his fault she is so sad. But I can do nothing about it.

Except try to make her happier. Hero is a ridiculous, heavy-handed title and burden to bear. Zelda lost everything. Her family. Her home. All to that man. And it was mostly my fault. I have to set this right. If I could go back and change it... I would.

I only hope you can make him happier, somehow, too.
puppy_lancer: <user name=aicons> (and whisper that you love me)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-10 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
and you seem to be a pretty good hero
sorry if i ever talked down to you

that sounds tough for both of you to deal with
but the thing for us heroes is that we can't always lament the past
we can't focus so hard on changing what's already happened that we lose sight of the future

[Though if he had some way to change what had happened to Misaya, or what had happened to Diarmuid during his Grail War, he would.]

i'd say what you're doing is about correct
try to make her happier
fight alongside her if you get the chance
keep her human
that's what i'd do in your shoes
that's what any hero can do

funny how the situation is kinda opposite with me, though
ocariness: (Peacefully.)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-10 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
... I will not pry into your situation, it would be unbecoming
But I will say that... I wonder if my music can fill every floor of this Tower.

The music from my home is special. My people are special. ... They were, at least. We see music in everything, we hear it. If it is alive, it sings in some way. Our trees are happy, soulful beings; the mysterious melody of my home's woods has quite an effect on some people.

If only for a few moments, I wish I could make every person in this Tower hear my song.

Zelda used to enjoy playing music with me. She taught me many songs. I hope I can bring that love of it I know she has back.
puppy_lancer: (And white with snow)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-10 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
ah, it's not that bad
just that he looks up to me as a hero
since he read a lot about my legend
so i'm just gonna be his hero

really?
my homeland also had a great deal of music
not as soulful as yours, but still nice to listen to
so i'd appreciate it if i could hear that song you just described
it must be beautiful

i don't know how well my brother sings
but he's so good at so many sings
maybe if i tell him to sing to zelda
she'll start singing too
and then you can play music together
ocariness: (Unmasked.)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-10 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
I would not mind playing it for you. It's a nice song. A dear friend taught it to me so we could communicate, but I think it is beautiful in its own way.

Hyrule was... a wonderful place.

Maybe I should try making a broadcast with music sometime. I wonder if it would help everyone.
puppy_lancer: the-man-of-light@tumblr (When my poor heart you first beguiled)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-10 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
i don't doubt it
i hope you'll be able to go back to it one day

and i won't be opposed to hearing that music
hell, you can broadcast that music right now

give me a moment

[ It's hastily typed; Link is usually carrying the Ocarina of Time, and has to move the Pocket Cucco in their lap out of the way first, but that's not an issue.

After a bit, the silent Hylian begins playing a rather oddly cheerful melody. The notes have an odd quality to them, even over a recording.

Like magic. ]

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-11 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lancer can't keep a smile off his face as he listens to the music. It seems to dispel all his worries for the time being.]

Thank you.
It was a beautiful song.
In return, would you like me to show you one from my homeland?

[He switches to audio as well, but since he has no instrument, all he can do is whistle.]

[So he whistles a quick cheerful reel.]
ocariness: (Never trespassing)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-13 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Link's face lights up. Lancer, that was great!! There is the dorkiest, happy smile on this video feed, man. Link isn't going to speak, but there is a following text: ]

You are very talented, thank you. This was nice. We should do it again. Maybe you could find an instrument on the music floor?

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-13 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[He scratches his head a little at the text, but doesn't really question why she's communicating this way.]

Uh...I never really learned how to play instruments. I mean, I've been fine with just humming or whistling. And even if I did, I'd be a little rusty.
Edited 2013-04-13 14:49 (UTC)
ocariness: (Really excited!!)

i think it's pretty obvious what she's using at this point

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-14 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
There is always time to learn, I could teach you! Music is in my people's very soul. In fact, it is considered odd for a Kokiri to not play at least one instrument. We make our own, even.

Fado is also here... I believe he plays something with strings. I think he would be happy to help. We could give it a try!

[Lancer switches over to video. He nods and gives Link and thumbs up.]

Cute picture, little lady. So Kokri are some sort of phantasmal species from your world?
ocariness: (Contently.)

[personal profile] ocariness 2013-04-17 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
I am sorry I do not fully know what phantasmal means but if you mean immortal or forest spirits then yes that is pretty close!

Though they can still die if they leave the forest or get attacked they just do not age

... My case is a bit stranger, however.
puppy_lancer: <user name=hound-of-ulster> (The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-04-17 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
it means they're naturally formed existences different from humans
so kokri are like what you'd call nature spirits in my place

what's so strange about you?
