We've seen, or heard of, what the administrators have done to our souls. Materialized them. Liquefied them. Maybe even put them into our collars, or something absurd like that.

Where does that leave their victims whose souls were materialized/liquefied at the wrong time? Let's say: during a state of possession. Might there be a way to filter out the foreign influence? What of those of us who are physically ill and fragile no matter how many times we die and are resurrected? Shouldn't there be a way to tweak this materialized soul to fix that?

What a sloppy system. It seems to me the administrators are lazy.

For the record, Jason, if you are reading this: yes. I am questioning your professionalism. I am calling you lazy. If you're offended, track me down and punish me all you like, but fix the souls you materialized wrong.

Interesting. That isn't something I had yet given proper thought myself. Though the idea of Jason being something of a hack did indeed cross my mind.

I was told a account of someone's seventh death and revival being different than the others prior. As though there was a mistake made in the process, they were just slightly more aware of whatever went on in between the two. Had you been aware of accounts such as that?

It's a concerning idea, at the bare minimum. If Jason really is incompetent, then the system is a flawed one from the start.

Which is obviously problematic, dealing with an abstract matter like this.

I was trying to speak lightly; there's no point in panicking like idiots, after all.

We're all unbelievably fucked beyond comprehension.

Better?

So now that the matter of semantics is cleared up, what now? I don't suppose you have a proposed solution past 'slap Jason in the face and send him back to medical school'.

While it's likely as good an idea as any, I highly doubt it'll work.

Sad to say, but the advantage of being Jason is in itself just that--he has a persistent upper hand over us, barring some kind of miracle.

They're unlikely and not worth relying on, but at the same time I like to account for all possibilities no matter how slight.

I'm afraid I've not been here very long. At the moment most of what I have are notes and theories on how this damned place works.

Fortunately for the rest of the tower, I rather enjoy research and trying to answer impossible things like this.

Back to your original question. My current guess would be that there are one of two possibilities when it comes to the specific nature of possession, illness, or anything else like that. Either the administrators are unable to repair such things, or simply unwilling to make the attempt.

Personally, I don't know which of the two is more concerning.

Good point, but I was operating under the belief that as long as one option applied, whether or not the alternative also did was largely irrelevant.

Although if they are in fact unable, that brings up a considerable list of other problems and possibilities.

I had a theory that perhaps Jason was a renegade former staff member, but given the concept that he might well be a talentless hack, I might have to dismiss that entirely.

Either they were in over their heads in general or Ruana alone was a case well beyond whatever they usually dealt with. And as for my guess regarding Jason, he's just as likely to have been a bloody janitor as he was a proper staff member.
