[After this brief speech, Kariya slumps, breathing heavily. His good eye widens, and the swollen veins in his face seem to pulse for a moment. The effort of speaking has obviously taken a lot out of him. The physical and mental shock of the worms returning has taken its toll on him. He looks as if he's having trouble standing upright at the terminal. A spasm of pain crosses his face. When he speaks again, his voice is weaker.]

I need a healer--is there someone who can help?

I don't think they knew that this would happen, but they did something without knowing what it would do, something that could be dangerous. And it was. They have to take responsibility for what they did. When people in a revolution kill innocent people, the fact that they were fighting doesn't make it right.

Not everyone would make that choice. What gave them the right? What if they can't win?

[Kariya waits. He doesn't have anything else to do.]

Hello. It's all right. It was hardly any wait.

I am glad to hear that. Now..I may only be able to get your parasites to recede for a day or two at most. I cannot fully rid you of them. I am sorry..but would you be alright with this?

[As chaos spoke, he straightened his gloves, preparing himself to use ethers and whatever else he could pull out.]

That's fine. Anything would be better--than this. It went away, you see. Then it all came back. [He lets out a long sigh.]

[Before he spoke again, chaos held up his right arm, with the palm facing Kariya and his left arm on top of his right. If Kariya didn't move, a large drop of healing energy would fall on him-almost like a dewdrop-which would drive back the worms for two days at most.]

That's right. I was used to it before.

[He knows he'll get used to it again. People can get used to the most horrible things. But he wishes he didn't have to.

He remains still as the drop falls on him, trusting that this will be all right. He blinks. He does feel improved, almost at once.]

That is better. [Healing is really a wonderful gift. He wishes he had something like it.] I like to help others, too. I'm glad to meet you, chaos. My name's Kariya.

[chaos understands that feeling more than Kariya knows..but revealing that information would out himself, would ignite Kariya's curiosity. It was best to just stay silent as he was healed.]

[He sighs.] I wish there was more I could do to help. I feel so useless lately. [He shakes his head. He really shouldn't be talking that way. It doesn't do anyone any good, least of all himself. It's just disheartening. He tries to be there for people, to let them know he cares and help them in any way possible, but sometimes it doesn't feel like enough.]

Right now? I do feel better... What I'd most like to do is look after the children. And my nephew. [As usual, he is ignoring the fact that Shinji isn't his actual nephew.] I'm sure they're frightened, after what happened. Or they could use a friend, at least.

[chaos may be a child, but Kariya doesn't think he seems like an ordinary child. He seems so confident and calm.]

[Fictive families were still families, in a way. At that information, chaos thought a bit before speaking. Kariya would be right in the fact that chaos was no ordinary child. To be quite frank, he wasn't a child at all, or even human.]

Alright then. If you can, perhaps it is best to state something on the network or through letters that you would be willing to watch over children for a few hours per day to make sure that they were not harmed for most of the time. If an organization similar to that is already in place, you might be able to join it and help it along. This is just a suggestion though. You need not take it if you do not want to.

[He nods. It's easy for him to accept chaos as more of an adult than a child, because of his manner and his words. He's easy to talk to, too.]

No, that's a good idea. I might do that. Lancelot and I could look after the children... [He's not sure if people would take him up on the offer, but he could try.] I just want to make things easier for them.

I wish there was more I could do. I mean, about the administrators. To help everyone. [It's just hard to know what to do against such insurmountable odds, especially when he's so sick most of the time.]

[chaos was like that. Most people, even complete strangers, found it easy to talk with him.]

I know..however..if you are taking care of the young and those who do not have many defenses, those who are fighting against the Administrators would not be that worried about the Administrators or anyone else harming them. You would be fighting back, in your own way.

I could fight, but I don't know how, or where. [And he's ignoring the fact that being in a serious fight could easily kill him, from exertion alone.]

Even if you could fight with a sword, I am not sure how well you would do. Almost everyone thinks that they could be doing more, even if they are doing their best. It is normal. However..if you can fight with bandages, playing, and a makeshift sanctuary, that will be of great help, even if it does not feel like it.

But you're right, those things matter, too, just as much. I never wanted to be a fighter. I only wanted to have an ordinary life.

...that didn't work out very well.

[Inwardly, chaos sighed. If it wasn't for his role, he would have loved to live in peace with the people he loved. There would have been consequences for being human..but there also would have been quite a few good points.]

I imagine that quite a few people wish for nothing but normal lives with their loves ones. I myself know the feeling. However..since it has not worked well so far, we have to make sure that we can make it work well in the future, even if we are not good fighters, healers, or things of that nature.
