[Quietly... makes connections... and he feels pretty confident assuming it was probably... whoever her highblood is. The one who made her like this. Reaches up... sorta hesitantly and... rubs his knuckles over her cheek. Half a pap]

It's alright... They're not here now.

[That was the weirdest pap ever. And she might be stupid when it comes to quadrants, but not that stupid. She gets what he's doing, and she's not really sure how to deal with it. That doesn't stop her from leaning into him, though.]

[lakjsdfljasdlj don't judge his weird pap okay. He was half afraid she was going to reject him for it, so the fact she leans on him instead is... encouraging!!! He doesn't do it again though, just kinda content to hug her and toy with her hair a little]

[NO she is okay with staying here! She kind of needs it, anyway. After a moment or so, though, she peeks up at him again.]

[Still as horrible as ever. Actually they're slightly less ragged I guess. The edges have had a chance to smooth out a little, but they're still looking sorta rough]

[NOT THAT... HE IS GOING TO SHOW HER THAT OR POINT IT OUT IN ANY WAY. Just kinda... shrugs and hums faintly]

Better. Don't uh... worry about it, too much okay...?

[She has... Kind of been keeping a close eye on them. She isn't sure if they hurt, though, and that's what worries her.]

[Nope. She's totally going to worry.]

[They don't hurt cries Handmaid it's okay. They just need some time!!]

Really, Coleta... [Runs his hand through her hair again] They'll, be fine.

[She sighs.]

[Yep, totally repeating herself. She feels kind of guilty that all of the injuries he gave her are gone now and his still aren't.]

[Ehhh he's a soldier. He's had lots of injuries that have lasted for a long damn time. He's already over it tbh. Except for the part where he can't fly. That is still hella frustrating and makes him want to claw at his face sometimes...]

[...wow I did a really terrible job of seeing who died and didn't OH WELL]

[Frowns faintly, and shakes his head a little]

I didn't see... It was, hard to watch. [He is sort of ashamed to admit he didn't stick around for a lot of it... especially after the Handmaid died]

[She nods, resting her chin on his shoulder. Aradia can certainly take care of herself, and it's not like she hasn't died a million times before, but it still bothers the Handmaid for some reason she can't place.]

[Sighs faintly, running his knuckles across her back. Trying to comfort her mostly, but also a little bit himself because tbqh having to recall that awful little show is not a fun experience at all. He's sort of caught in a useless hero spiral at this point where he wishes he could have done something even though he knows he couldn't, but they all just died so horribly and he wanted to help so much, but...]

[You get the idea...]

[And she knows he's being stupid and blaming himself, and she wants to fix it but she can't, because she's absolutely terrible at this. She makes a valiant effort to by tightening her grip and nuzzling against his neck shyly.]

[Oh nuzzling. Nuzzling is nice. He actually smiles a little and laughs very very faintly]

I'm glad you're back...

[Oh, he's laughing! That means she's doing something right! His statement throws her a little, though. She'll probably never get used to the fact that there's someone who genuinely cares for her.]
