oo1 [ video ]

[While he usually uses audio settings back home, this time he's going to use video. It might help if someone recognizes him, and not just by voice. Which is why everyone can see that he opted not to use the white jumpsuit (because who really would?), and instead used the clothes that he had found in the trunk. Thank god they gave him brushes, too, or his hair would be a mess.]

This connects to the network, yes? This is Tseng, Director of the Department for Administrative Research. ID Number 46952. [There's no confirmation after that, of course, and his eyes narrow.]

After awaking in room 03-04, I found the letter stating that Gaia had been destroyed. Unbelievable, of course, and whoever has decided to play this kind of prank can be assured that their pay will be docked.

[The collar, too, is a nice touch; just enough that it's annoying, and such a garish color.] I'm more concerned with someone touching my things, and somehow knowing what to pack in that trunk. They also left me without a lighter, if there is anyone willing to lend me one for a moment.

Any and all information from a reliable, spoken source, would be appreciated.

[End transmission.]

[He finds Tseng's words amusing, in a way. But he doesn't smile.]

But I am the only being deserving of it, I was the only one willing to sacrifice everything so that Gaia might live and thrive. She welcomed me, Director. Even though I had failed her.

I devoted my life to the study of the lives of Planets. Their deaths are slow and torturous. I remain unconvinced there is a means by which an outside power could destroy a world. Particularly as the power behind this place refuses to furnish me scientific proofs, hard evidence of any kind.

Your-- comrades have chosen to believe the images they've been shown by their captors. Their lack of faith in the Planet is unfortunate.

Perhaps you misunderstand. [Oh, he knows you don't.] I was Gaia's champion, Director, not yours. She is grateful, it is enough.
[The Director's dislike is returned. Very much so. He has little patience for Gaia's most ungrateful children.]

It doesn't trouble you that your-- kind, are so easily swayed by the propaganda provided by their enemy? How odd. Then again, weak minds cling together to any surety. Even a cruel or false one.

This place cannot be brazened out, Director. It must be analyzed and understood, so that it may be destroyed. That is my work now.

I have no interest in being remembered, Director. Had I succeeded, I myself would have ceased to be, as would any who might have "remembered me". As it is-- "glory", "shame", "memory", these things hold no meaning for me. Indeed, they never have done.

Further explanation is unnecessary.
Yes, I'm sure you'll eventually return to your home, to your life, as I'll return to the Lifestream.
And if you have my work to thank-- well, I suppose you'll be able to forget that. In time.
