Hey, Seph...where the heck are you? Just...let me know, okay? I'm getting worried.

[Evening, Animus-folk. Have a rather concerned looking Zack on your network today. He's definitely worried about something, and considering the late hour, that's not surprising. Monsters will be out soon.]

Has anybody seen General Sephiroth around today? I looked all over and I can't find him anywhere...his name's not on his door anymore, either, but that doesn't mean anything, does it? [a glance over his shoulder, probably at that door in question, then he looks back at the screen.]

Just...lemme know if you've seen him around, okay? It's not like him to not check in.

Yeah, probably. [sigh.] He's really tall, with long silver hair, and he carries this really long sword around with him at all times. I couldn't find that thing either, so he probably never got back to his room last night.

[ He's nodding at the description, making mental notes and trying to come up with the mental image in his mind. ]

Right. Think I can manage to remember all that. Who should I tell him is looking for him if I spot him then?

[Zack would show him a picture to be sure, but he doesn't have any. Sadly.]

Zack. He'll know who you mean. [wry little half-smile.] He always knows.

[ Well, the description was good enough anyway. ]

Sounds like a right dependable sort of bloke. I'll keep an eye out then, Zack.

[ There's a sigh though. ]

Course... there's always the thought they disappeared on us. Haven't seen hide nor hair of two of the chaps I knew from home for a while now either.

[Oh, good. Sephiroth's hard to miss, but every little bit counts.

That's a nod, and some of the tension seems to leak out of Zack's shoulders before it comes back. Just..disappeared? No. No, he can't believe that.]

Just...just like that? Gone? You didn't get any kind of warning they'd just...disappear?

[ Didn't mean to get you down there, bud. Whoops. ]

Yeah, 'fraid so. Course, unless you've seen a redhead with shark teeth and a little kid with an eyepatch? They're pretty hard to miss, too.

[Eh, it happens. He'll be okay.]

No...no, I haven't seen 'em. [siiiigh. He's been all over the tower for days now. Sure, he hadn't been looking, but people like that do sound hard to miss.] And you think the same thing's happened to Sephiroth? Not that he just...wandered off and got stuck somewhere or something?

[he's grasping at straws. Sephiroth doesn't wander in the first place, let alone without telling someone.]

Here now, calm down. He's prolly around here somewhere. Might turn up before you know it.

[ Small frown though. ]

Course, also possible they took him off somewhere. That kinda happens round here, I'm afraid.

[he is calm! If he was nervous, he'd be pacing or punching holes in the wall. He does take a breath and rake a hand through his hair, though. Breathe, Fair. Panicking solves nothing.]

I know it does, but...when all those people disappeared in the blackouts, there weren't any names missing from the doors. Why would they take one name this time if they didn't take all those ones then?

His name's gone...?

[ There's a click of his tongue and a frown. ]

...Same thing happened to the two I was talking about. Hate to say it, mate. He's prolly gone.

[Zack's heart sinks at that. Gone? Just...gone? No warning? ...gods, this can't be happening. no. Sephiroth wouldn't just poof like that!]

But why? Why would they go through the whole mess of pulling us out of our worlds if we're just...gonna disappear anyway?

[ It's gotten him thinking too. ]

Who knows if they're telling us the truth about that too? I mean... s'not really my business to know but... we've all got our suspicions, right?

Yeah...plenty of 'em. [Like why they'd bring little kids here than not do anything about the monsters? Or why they're not given better explanations, especially about how people from the same worlds can keep showing up here when their worlds are supposedly gone or--stuff. Lots of stuff.]

But it's kind of our business to know, man. I mean...they brought us here. Least they could do is give us a few straight answers.

[He gets the idea of classified information, but come on. Throw 'em a bone, Admins.]

Guess you've got a point. Course, the way it goes they aren't saying a bleeding thing and when they do, it just doesn't make any bloody sense.

Got have a mind to just charge in there and demand some answers, know what I mean?

[ A sigh. ]

Doesn't make sense from our end. We would've been told if the world's ending yet we got nothin' and here I am with our world in shambles.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I know exactly what you mean.

[Now if only they could find the people who know the answers they want. That's...probably going to be the hard part. Ah, well. Determination will get them far.]

Tell me about it. You'd think something that big would have given off signs or something. Nothing was weird before I got here, either.

[ It will indeed. Good thing they have a lot of it. ]

Even a small inter-departmental heads up would have been nice, if you ask me.

You seen the scopes on the second floor then?

[They have it in spades. Could flood the tower with it...if it had physical form, anyway.]

Yeah, I've seen 'em. Never looked through 'em, though. Was always too busy.

[Mapping the tower or dealing with monsters or keeping his CO from bringing the place down on their heads...he'd prefer to be doing that right now, honestly.]

[ Who knows, maybe it'll take the form of a giant animal and crash into the to-- waaaaait... ]

Have a butchers sometime. They show what your world looks like. Though I'd have to admit, still took me for a ride then the first time I saw them.

[...not quite the determination anyone had in mind, surely! That thing had waaaayyy too much determination.]

Don't need to. I know what it looks like already. [he looks to the side.] I don't need to see it if it's all dead and destroyed. Don't need any nightmares or anything.

[ Close enough. ]

Yeah but I've gotta say, seeing the thing for myself made me kind of wonder, you know? My boss said it's still a load of bollocks and I wanna believe him but you've gotta wonder...

[ A sigh. ]

...I actually went back myself.

[Zack opens his mouth to protest again, but then Ronald brings up his return to his world. That drives every thought process in Zack's brain to a screeching halt, leaving him with only one.]

...And your world was gone? Or were they lying about it?

[He's not sure what would be worse, really. After everything else he's heard over the past couple hours...]

[ ...yeah. Yeah, he knows that look. He nods once, just enough to pass his reaction. ]

Yeah... looks like they were telling the truth. Place was a bloody wreck. The main building, the library... all of it.

Course... even if I've seen it... still makes me wonder if it was true or if they gave me another nightmare.

[Pardon him, Ronald. He needs a moment. It's clear that he's thinking about what his world would have been, and what his best friend just went back to if he did go there and it's real, but...]

...What do you think the chances are that it was just a nightmare? Fifty fifty?

[ Don't think too hard, Zack. You're liable to blow a fuse due to the fact that none of it makes any bloody sense. ]

Buggered if I know. Could've been a dream, could've been the real thing. I dunno what's up anymore, truth be told.

[He shouldn't be thinking at all. Sadly, he is. He'll be thinking about this for a long time.]
