I have noticed many amongst us appear concerned about Ruana's next step, namely her siphoning of the souls left on dead worlds.

I can and do understand the will to oppose Ruana, I encourage it. However, this desire I have witnessed of saving the lost souls is quite intriguing, if not misplaced. The vast majority of these souls are people we have never met and will most likely never meet. For that matter we did not even know they existed before stepping into this tower, nor did we have any thoughts for them before seeing that message.

They have had whatsoever no impact on our lives and never will they have any. Nothing binds them to us and what fate will befall them, ultimately is none of our concern. It is their own fight while we have our own fights. Hence I have only one question:

Why do you care?

I prefer to think of it as realism; neither a pessimist nor an optimist. I have seen the worst my world has to offer, been witness and subject to both unimaginable cruelty and immeasurable kindness.

Yes, distasteful traits run through humanity like some kind of plague. But it would be incorrect to assume that the worst of people are all there is to them.

Would you enlighten me and tell me what is realist about your philosophy? You admit having seen the horrors of humanity, yet you cling onto what little positive aspect you have seen to claim your faith in humanity.

It seems to me you are as far from reality as one can be. Even the 'immeasurable kindness' you claim having seen, stems only from a selfish feeling at the root.

Kindness is not always given with something expected in return. Some people act like that simply because they want to. I for one expect nothing out of helping those left on their worlds; the fact that they would be able to survive is enough of an end result for me to be satisfied.

You have contradicted yourself. You stated you will be satisfied. hence you do expect something out of helping those left on their worlds: the feeling of satisfaction.

I am going to argue your choice of words, yes. What I argue here if you have paid attention, is that what you call kindness is in fact a selfish act even if you reject the notion of it being selfish.

Semantic is key in revealing what you reject.
