[WHACK. Hitting the computer activates the video function. Glaring at the screen is a tan-skinned man with pointed ears, a lovely gin-blossom nose, sunken eyes, and... green hair. And he's already changed out of that weird jumpsuit and into his normal clothes. The top of his orange collar is barely visible over his red cravat.

He narrows his eyes at the screen, then down at the keyboard]

Blasted... typewriter! What kind of contraption is this! Where's the paper?! Cursed LIARS, telling me I could communicate with people using this thing!

[and now he's shaking the computer. Or trying to]

HEY!! TELL ME HOW TO GET BACK, YOU INFERNAL MACHINE!! Put me back on my ship right this instant!

A window? So you're on the other side of this thing? [he stands up from the chair and looks around the computer... but there's only a wall there!] So you're in a room behind here?

See, this place likes to be really weird and take people from other times, Captain Linebeck. I might not've done any of that, yet.
Last thing I was doing was setting sail off of Outset with Tetra and her crew, so I guess you're kind of from the future.

[Linebeck looks down, folding his arms and apparently giving it some thought. Different times? Was that even possible? He frowns deeply, but gives a nod]

Well if that's how it's gonna be...! [a grin now!] The name's Linebeck, and I'm a real man of the sea!!

[Hey - if Linebeck's smiling, he might as well, too! He gives the Captain a big, warm smile and a nod.]

And... I guess you know who I am, too! It's really nice to meet you, Linebeck!
You look like a man of the sea, too - all... captainy and stuff!

That's right! I sail the Great Sea on the SS Linebeck in search of treasure! And ADVENTURE! Mostly treasure! But my ship is special. Runs on steam, you see. Fancy, right? Much more reliable than sails!

[Yeah, he is so impressed.]

That sounds so neat... I wish I could go sailing with you! It sounds a lot better than having to use the Wind Waker all the time...

[It gets tiring after a while, okay. His poor little conductor's arm.]

Yep! Well... I guess if this world destruction thing is true... then you won't get to. But I can tell you about the adventures we WOULD have had together.

But it's wonderful, not to be at the whim of the winds.

The world destruction thing's not true at all! This place lies all the time - don't believe it, okay? The Great Sea is just fine, I bet. The Goddesses wouldn't let it just fall like that, not after the King wished for hope on the Triforce!

I'd hope not... I love the sea, and I really thought the Goddesses would be a little more careful with it! Not just let it explode or whatever! Especially if that Triforce thingy was involved. That thing is supposed to grant wishes, right? It's the most sought after treasure of all!

So this place is a tower? I ah... lost the letter.

Yeah - it's a really big tower, with a lot of dangerous floors. If you don't have a sword or nothing, I wouldn't go looking around if I were you.

[And he's completely serious, too - he wouldn't even think of it.]

D...dangerous? Really... ah... that's a shame. I haven't got a weapon, other than my knife. [but that thing is more of a utility... for gutting fish, whittling wood, cutting rope... You know. Ship stuff!] In fact, I don't see any reason why I should go farther than the galley.

[Oh wait! He snaps, giving the captain a grin.]

Where are you right now, Linebeck? I've got an idea!

Ahh... at the talkbox thing nearest my room, which is 2-19. Why?

[He turns the video feed off then, before running to go find his new friend - which doesn't take long at all.

... Whoah, you're really tall. But now's not the time for that! He's just going to tug at the back of Linebeck's coat, smiling up at him.]

[he just sits there, fiddling with the computer and trying to figure it out ~~so the scary green man doesn't glare at him again~~. He's pretty deep in thought, trying to learn as fast as possible, so he doesn't notice the familiar "taptaptap" of his little friend running towards him. But the yank on his coat works! He turns around and smiles at the kid]

Mhm! Now hold out your hands - I have something that'll help you a lot, here!

[Without a word, he's slipping his own bracelets onto Linebeck's wrists.]

These.

They're really important to me, okay? But they're my Power Bracelets!
I can lift up whole boulders with these on!

[Linebeck blicks, examining his wrists]

Magic bracelets? You're just... giving these to me? [Kid... he doesn't even... dahskfhajkd] Are you sure about that?

Of course! Don't worry, I've got lots of other stuff to use for myself!

I've got my bows 'n arrows, and the Master Sword.

[SHING. He pulls out the legendary blade to show Linebeck, grinning.]

It hurts evil a lot, so I'll be okay!

Besides - we're friends, right? I can trust you with my Power Bracelets!

[he runs his fingers over the pretty little things... they seem so simple, but the magic running through them is palpable. Kind of tingly! And they changed size to fit from Link's bitty little wrists to his]

Well, if you insist, kid. [here's a genuine smile] I appreciate it. [... oh that is a nice sword] Woah. It's kind of... glowy. Is that normal?

Mhm. The glow means it's got it's power to repel evil!

... I had to do a lot to get it to do that.

Well that's fancy! I bet there's a lot of evil around here. It seems like the kind of place... Especially with the dangerous stuff and what not.
