But just to make sure we match, what does your preferred definition of friendship entail?

I am not sure, to be frank. I thought I was good with friendships, until this place decided to prove me otherwise.

Trust would be a large part of it of course, as well as perhaps kindness and the ability to rely on one another. Being able there for each other when something has happened is something appreciated in a friendship, as well.
And putting up with faults, while it may strain friendships from time to time, may be necessary depending on who's attempting to befriend whom.

[There's a pause here, before she sends one more piece of text.]

A good sense of humor isn't required, though I've noticed it helps.

Reading that, I think you're doing just fine. Don't let the tower get to you; its ability to demoralize is pretty extensive. We're all out of our comfort zone, you know? I'm sure your friends at home think you're great.

I'm happy to help? I know it gets pretty awful here, and hard to feel like you should keep trying, but. We have to.

I'm not surprised you know her, really. She seems like a very personable, well, person when she is in good spirits. And likewise, it's nice to meet you.

Oh, I haven't been losing morale, really. Simply friends. I had messed up upon my arrival here, and it's colored quite a few persons' opinion of me, sadly to say.
I have met a few people who don't seem to hate me upon meeting me however, and I'm glad I have them, despite a few disappearing.

I'm usually in better spirits than this, I apologize.

She's kind of impressive, isn't she? Like a princess out of a story.

I'm sorry. That's really hard. Even when you don't mess up immediately upon arrival, losing friends is tough. Maybe if you give them enough time, they'll come around and get to know you better. We all have times we aren't too proud of.

But you don't need to be in better spirits! This is totally understandable circumstances to be in not better spirits.
