[The General seemed a bit...piqued, yet at the same time somewhat pleased. He absently stripped a dark liquid substance from his sword blade as he spoke quite calmly.]

As a precaution, I would advise avoiding Floors Four and Thirteen until the Tower maintenance crew - whatever it may be - clear both areas of debris. Anyone traveling to either floor, use caution; do not proceed alone, if possible, as we encountered hostile creatures on both floors last night.

[Hence the needed cleanup.]

Doctor Brown, Marty, my thanks again. [Sephiroth actually smiled, although it was tinged with just a bit of...malice.] Your craftsmanship, Doctor, is masterful. I'm in your debt.

Perhaps there are. However, those we encountered seemed a bit more intent on reaching the dormitories than previous. Hence their eradication was necessary.

Was there some reason, then, to lay waste to two floors rather than guarding the dormitories? Those floors are not... adjacent to the dormitory floors. Not that I would second-guess the general. No, I'm only curious. About this damage control. As an interested resident.

I had no intention of leaving the dormitory floors unguarded, Professor. Yet if we're to survive here, reconnaissance is necessary, as well as gathering all information possible about enemy locations, habits, ectera.

[And he wanted to make sure his beloved sword was up to par, but not that he'd ever admit that to Hojo. Then he grew stern again.]

A bold foray, then. You strike forth, with great strength, and I will view the wreckage in the aftermath.

Yes, yes, interested resident as I am, I am conversant with all the floors at this point. [He waved a hand. He honestly didn't care. There was no death for him now, so why should he?] Having done my own reconnaissance, I know where I am going and what consequences there might be.

[A passing pain. Can he die twice? Is he immortal? He doesn't know. There are many things he doesn't know, as he hates to admit.]

And if the Tower is the enemy, then the enemy's location is everywhere. If this is not a battlefield, and we survive because they wish us to. If that is the case... but I have no proven theories yet, only interesting hypotheses.

We "survive" - if such is an accurate term - because we possess something they need, else we would have simply perished with our worlds, if such an absurdity is correct.

[A long finger ticked the collar at his neck.]

Proof enough, I should think. A means of --control. [And oh, how his lip curled at that word.] I should think you quite familiar with the nuance, Professor.

As I said, these are theories, only.

I don't believe it to be correct. The absurdity, as you call it. Not necessarily. It could very well be true that this is an experiment, however. That isn't as outlandish.

Nuance? Hardly a nuance, it seems obvious. The control implicit in the collar. But I fail to see what it proves. That we survive because they want us to? Yes, that was my point, and obviously they have a motive.

We were told the collars provide essential substances for our continued survival within the Tower. [That'd been wonderful news.] I suppose the validity of such a claim has yet to be verified. [Unless you've figured out a way to prove it, Professor.] Either way, I care little for being shackled like a damned beast.

We were told, yes. I take little stock in what we're "told". Oh, I can test it, I'm sure. I've only just begun my work. They will remove our collars if we ask, I know, but I wasn't able to observe the result.
