-So is this how it works?

[On the screen is a small girl, looking about 13, dressed in green and far away from her home. Her eyes glance down a few times, reading the piece of paper in her lap and following its every instruction. Clearly the word technology is foreign to her, let alone the ability to use it.]

Good thing the letter is so thorough, I would've never learned to use this by myself. Of course, I could always be talking to myself instead. I really hope not.

[She lets out a small nervous laugh, but she really does mean it. Just knowing anyone else was out there.]

It's so quiet here, I can't hear anything. Not even the faintest calling from the spirits. Everything here is so cold and hard, so different from the forest. It's actually a little scary...but I guess it's the way things have to be.

[Her eyes saddened a little. This was all real, she could feel it deep down. But then there was always a harder truth to accept.]

What that letter said, about home being destroyed, I don't believe it's a lie. After all, everything passes in time. But for there to have been so little left...I failed in my duties. I'm so sorry everyone.

[As a Sage, she should've been able to see this destruction come. She should've been able to do something...]

If anyone can hear me, my name is Saria. I'm looking for my friends. There are the Sages like myself: Rauru, Darunia, Ruto, Impa, Nabooru, and Princess Zelda; the other Kokiri children....Link....If any of those sound familiar, please let me know.

...I-I know Zelda. And, um, Link. Well...one Link. [Zelda had told her there were others, around the tower, although Tara had never found them.

After a pause, she adds in a much softer, much less confident sort of voice.]

It...it is hard to ignore, isn't it? When you're so used to just...knowing that everything's there, and then it's not.

D-Doesn't help that, um, m-my world almost got destroyed a lot.

I've heard, but thank you. It's good to know not everything is gone. [There's that more than one Link thing again. Perhaps it would be best to ask the princess about it.]

[Saria smiles. She wasn't trying to make a grown up nervous.]

Nothing can prepare you for when it actually happens. Not when you tried so hard to stop it.

Nah. S-Sometimes, um, people show up from home. Or, um...places kind of like home.

...s-sometimes they go away, too but, um, w-we haven't found out where.

[And, seeing as how she isn't trying to upset a kid - or what looks like a kid - even more over what is, undeniable, an upsetting situation:]

Y-You're a Sage?

[That fact is why she's not letting herself be entirely certain that Saria really is a kid. Some beings can look a lot older than they are.] I mean...I-I don't mean that, th-that I don't believe you are. I just...th-they're not really that common, back home.

'Places like home?' I'm afraid I don't quite understand. [She hasn't quite gotten that far on the weird things about this place chart.]

[Smiling and nodding at the question, she's relieved someone know who the Sages are. Or at least appears to know.]

I am the Sage of the Forest. [Whatever that might mean to you. Though it does explain all the green and lack of skill with the terminal.] It's okay, the Sages are not very common in Hyrule either. There are really only the seven of us.

Well...it's, um, kind of complicated. It's just that, um, I-I met someone here that I knew, from home...only, um, our worlds were different. Different stuff had happened. [Different people had died.] So, um, yeah. It was...kind of like home.

...m-maybe that explains why there are so many Links. [She'd wondered about that, when Zelda had told her to find one.]
