[ After much hesitation on his part to even look at the odd device given to him by his captors, the proud marchwarden allows his curiosity to get the better of him. He tinkers with this odd stone for a moment or two before his confused image suddenly appears upon screen. Looking quite unsure and almost fearful of this object, Haldir speaks in a low hushed tone. ]

Mani naa ta? [ He murmured to himself, not entirely sure if this weird stone was active or not.] I've seen anything like it before...

Is this some sort of sorcery?

[ Still studying this odd thing with curious gaze, Haldir accidentally sets the communicator upside down as he speaks into it. ]

Hello? Does this ridiculous thing truly work?

[ A frustrated sigh escaped him as he rests his chin in his hands. ]

I see no point in these devices. Are we meant to use them for our amusement? If so, I am not easily amused.

I know it's not very easy to explain - the actual trick is with mirrors that reflect an image, I'm pretty sure. But that's what it's called, and once you know how to do it, cameras are easy to use.

You mean to say that this is merely a mirror's reflection? [ He frowns visibly. ] I do believe it's much more than just that, Aleph.

There's certainly some kind of magic fueling these devices. A sorcery I simply cannot understand.

However, why is it that you seem so...adept in these strange toys?

Then that would certainly explain why you seem so adept with these toys but tell me, just how similar is this realm in comparison with your own?

The technology level is comparable. I'd say the monsters aren't that different from the demons at home except they're less intelligent and willing to talk.

I know quite well that beasts can talk but I never thought they would have anything worth saying.

Doubtful. The two most powerful beings from my world, who might have stood a chance of doing this, are either dead or also a prisoner here.

Sometimes it's good to listen to them. You can avoid a fight that way, or learn something.
