[ After much hesitation on his part to even look at the odd device given to him by his captors, the proud marchwarden allows his curiosity to get the better of him. He tinkers with this odd stone for a moment or two before his confused image suddenly appears upon screen. Looking quite unsure and almost fearful of this object, Haldir speaks in a low hushed tone. ]
Mani naa ta? [ He murmured to himself, not entirely sure if this weird stone was active or not.] I've seen anything like it before...
Is this some sort of sorcery?
[ Still studying this odd thing with curious gaze, Haldir accidentally sets the communicator upside down as he speaks into it. ]
Hello? Does this ridiculous thing truly work?
[ A frustrated sigh escaped him as he rests his chin in his hands. ]
I see no point in these devices. Are we meant to use them for our amusement? If so, I am not easily amused.

This place must be very different then your home, though I have found that there can be magic, here. Different sorts of magic at a time, but many nonetheless.
If my "Queen" was here, she would be the first to tell you that magic exists everywhere and anywhere.
This realm might be rather different than my own but the existence of magic is our commonality.
Even in the most unexpected places. [He gives a small nod.]
I've seen people summon power creatures, here, while others can heal with a single word. I do not know if the people in charge here are capable of controlling those powers. There's a big difference between having magic within you, and being able to use it as an outside source. Which do you tend to use?
The magic I've seen seemed to be outside of the control of these "Administrators", or least from what I can tell.
[ Haldir frowned faintly when he mentioned the foul administrators, but this frown didn't last for long. ]
As for the magic within me, I was unfortunately not blessed with much. The Elves of Lórien rarely use magic of any kind but I can certainly assist in healing the wounds of others.
That will be useful here. With the monsters running about, and I know it does take Materia a little bit to regroup, going to a healer, rather then having to go to the ones in charge for help... [He shakes his head.]
Aye, I much rather heal myself than let those vile despots aid me. If we manage to take care of our own needs, sooner than later these tyrants shall fall.
We must become self-reliant.
Some of them have, already. It seems in the past six months, the people here have, at one point, stopped giving food to everyone. Now, people try to collect it or hunt for it, as best they can.
The people who run this tower are more monstrous then the monsters running around it.
[ A thoughtful hum escaped him. ]/small>
I do believe these "monsters" are the ones who control these devices. Any foul words said against them can possibly be heard by those who wish us harm.
If they monitor the communicators, then they must monitor the rooms. [He raises his hand to his chin, tilting it on it in thought. There were always blind spots, though; he'd worked too long within ShinRa to know that nothing was ever fully seen.]
[ Now that's a thought that hadn't passed through Haldir's mind until now. ]
You mean to say these fiends could possibly be watching over us while we sleep as well? What a thought...
If true, then what privacy do we have?
...So, yes. They could be watching us as we sleep. There are some places that I've found that seem to have more privacy then others. The meadows, for one. Or the morgues.
But why would they allow these places to be safe havens from their unfaltering gaze? Wouldn't that be rather foolish of them?
That is most certainly true yet they open themselves up for a possible weakness in their seemingly iron-like grip over us.
