Don't attempt to take your collars off, and when they call you in for maintenance on them, just go. That's all I've heard about them specifically, and I'm not sure how we were all brought here.

Your first meal has to be the oatmeal - anything else will just come up, so go along with that too. Right now a lot of the dinner options in the cafeteria are poisonous and will kill you. Avoid the soup. There's a restaurant, but you have to bring them something for them to serve you, and if you fail at getting it they take a body part. I wouldn't risk it, personally.

There are monsters out at night, so try and stay in your rooms then.
