[There's Legolas, sitting at a terminal and looking thoughtful. There's a small, leatherbound notebook in front of him and a fountain pen. He wasn't sure if they'd belonged to anyone when he'd gathered what he needed but he could return it all later. In neat script on the first page is a passage written in Sindarin. And below it, a translation of it.]

What is it you miss of home, most of all? What is it, that if ever we return, you will seek out first?

I want to write it all here in this book. I want to make sure that no one forgets what most they miss here. No matter what it is that we endure, we'll need only look into it to remind ourselves of happier times. Times that, with hope, are not forever lost to us.

I miss my company. The dwarves and hobbit who accompany during our quest to the Lonely Mountain. If you are talking about my real home then it would be the halls of Erebor. The great stone pillars and mighty caverns. The throne, which I hope to sit on before long. Once that creature is dead and gone.

[ The march warden said with a slight smirk upon his lips. As usual he was dressed within the dull hues of gray and brown, but his cloak was as black as obsidian.]

[More vocal than he wanted to be but the aftermath of Jason's experiment was wearing off. It would never vanish from him entirely but he was trying to be more like himself.]

I don't visit it so often as you might think. It's very useful for my purpose though.

[He smiled though, looking at at Haldir from where he sat and made a mental note to find more colorful clothes for his betrothed. Perhaps blue or silver, threaded with forest green.]

Happiness. And trying to make sure none of us forget it.

It feels like I'm being selfish to admit this, when there are people I care about here, but I really miss my best friend. Chie and I grew up together, and she was there for me when I didn't have anyone else I could really call a friend. We've been through a lot together, and I...I don't want her to be here, because I don't want her to get hurt or anything, but I miss her.

...and I miss getting to laugh with everyone. I think, if it's spring when I get home, the first thing I'm going to do is call everyone and get them together for a picnic under the cherry blossoms outside my family's inn. Just so we can all talk and laugh and smile without anything to be afraid of. There isn't nearly enough time to laugh, or to smile here.
