i have sand in places i didnt think it could get to

[As he waits in the computer chair, John can't help but think that he can actually call on Dave now; they can meet in person and just... talk. If there's one good thing this Tower has brought, it's probably that. ...So when Dave finds him, he'll find him staring into space and grinning like an idiot.]

John, if you grin any harder, everyone won't be able to see anything but your buckteeth. Let's turn that knob to a lower setting. I can only handle so much derp for only so long. [Despite his words, there's no venom behind him. Just good natured...well as good natured as Dave can get.

He drags a chair over, so he can sit next to John.] What's up. What hath the mighty heir of derp need that requires the knight of badass in the flesh?

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you. [John does tone it down as Dave suggested, but he's still smiling.] Well, I don't know if you know since you just came back, but my birthday is in like, two days! And I need you to help prepare for the party and stuff. We need to find a way to hook up a sound system.

[You have grabbed Dave's undivided attention. He's going to spend the next two days freaking out about what to get John. This shitty place doesn't do much to help you with presents.]

I can set one up. We need a sound system first. And what are we gonna do about music? I guess we can do that requesting thing, but I feel like I should have came back sooner. [Not that he had a choice in the matter.]

Well, for music I figured we could always just take the CDs from the media room. And maybe take the sound system from there too, if we can. Since we don't really have any iTunes for these, I don't know how easy requests will be... we could just go through CD by CD, I guess?

You know what? Leave music and sound related things to me. I'll get that shit set up and basically blow everyone out of this tower. Gonna take a page from your book and do the windy thing and everything. [First, he's gotta figure out how he's gonna do it all, but he'll figure it out.] You said where it's gonna be on the network, so don't worry about that. I know where to be.

I'll make sure your party here is so boss that no one will be able to top it. This tower is kind of shitty, but it's not ruining your birthday. [He's trying to not sound too excited. The thought of finally being able to celebrate his best friend's birthday in person is pretty cool though.] What else do we need?

Whoop, we got a badass over here. [John throws his hands up, looking at Dave in mock surprise.] Anyway, cool! Thanks, Dave. Uh, other things... [He rests his head on his hands.] I don't really know. What do you normally have at birthday parties? Besides cake. No cake.

Decorations? How should I know? You're the one who lived the shitty suburban life in a house and what not. Bro and I didn't do the whole birthday party thing. Birthday parties don't sound too cool, so we opted for a mutual understanding in that both of us were coming one step closer to kicking the bucket. [Actually, he can't remember his birthdays being all that interesting other than when he got to hang out with his friends online. Whatever.] Well, if you aren't gonna handle cake, you still need quality birthday chow. Your aversion to cakes is still hilarious though.

Well, I dunno! I never really did birthday parties either! [It's true. After the years of "you must invite everyone to your birthday party," which he never did anyway, his dad always just took him out to do stuff and that was that. Sure, his life was more normal than Dave's, but it wasn't that Mayfield-perfect.] And my aversion to cakes is not hilarious, it's completely serious, okay. It's a disease that posions all of society.

I get it man. No birthday cakes. But seriously. Some rad decorations that scream John Egbert and birthday should be a thing. [Do not assign decorating duty to Dave. You are asking for paper penises to be hung all over the ceiling. Also all the SBaHJ references that can happen.]

Food also. That's how birthday parties work right? Food, music, and decorations. [Dave has no idea what he's doing.]

Oh yeah. I trust you, Dave. You've got this all figured out. Food, decorations, music. [Joh cracks his knuckles, grinning.] Let's get to work.

We can just raid the kitchen before the party. But where do we get decorations? [He'll be jacking whatever sound equipment he can get, so whatever. Might as well steal everything for this birthday. It's not like the tower cares.]
