General, I've got good news and bad news. Got somewhere private enough that we can talk?

So, uh, I got a question for you guys. Anybody know where I can get a sword around here? Mine seems to have not made the trip with me and it feels weird to not have it, so...[sheepish look is go] I'd just really appreciate it if I could get a new one or something. Or if somebody could tell me they've seen my old one. It's about six feet long, weighs around 50 pounds...pretty hard to miss, but I can't find it anywhere.

[A moment of staring because kitty-thing is talking, but then Zack shakes his head. Not the strangest thing you've seen, Fair, get over it.]

You try a tool box? Or the trunk by your bed? I found the rest of my stuff in there.

[OKAY YES HE'S A LOMBAX STOP STARING. Man, he's been getting that a lot with the new guys lately. It's starting to be a little annoying.]

--what trunk? My stuff's been here the whole time and nobody told me?

[Well pardon the new guys for not ever seeing a Lombax before! You'd stare too, you know.]

I...guess so? There's a trunk at the foot of every bed in the dorm rooms, and mine had my stuff in it. I'm guessing yours does, too.

[He's doesn't immediately respond, having turned away from the terminal long enough to start digging through his trunk. And sure enough, he pulls out a large wrench, a wide smile appearing on the Lombax's face.]

Well, son of a quark. It was here the whole time!

[Wrench in hand, he hops back up to the terminal, suddenly looking a thousand times brighter than he had been.]

[...oookaay that wouldn't have fit in a regular toolbox but it's obviously important so have a grin, kitty-thing. At least something worked out!]

Glad to help. [A short pause; manners, Fair! Your mother taught you better than this.] My name's Zack, by the way. Zack Fair.

[Ratchet barely even realized they'd forgotten to exchange names. With all the excitement of arriving here, and all of these other new arrivals popping up as well, it'd honestly just slipped his mind. Besides, it's not like he knew a mother to teach him.]

Ratchet.

[Yes, that's really all there is. No last names, no nickname. Just 'Ratchet'. Thinking about that more, there's a brief, uncomfortable frown for a moment before it's gone again.] So, what planet did you come from?

[It is a lot to take in, really, but Zack will just be filing away that little piece of info. Ratchet, huh? The lack of a last name doesn't seem to phase Zack, or even register on his 'radar'; his best friend has no last name, so he's used to it. As for Ratchet's question, he takes a moment to think. What had that book said...oh!]

Well, I'm not actually sure. I think it's called Gaia, but that was in a book of old legends I read so I'm not sure how true it is.

Wait, hold up. You don't even know what your own planet is called? I understand being stuck on it for years and years, but... man.

That's pretty much the gist of it, yeah. We don't know a lot of things about our planet, let alone what it's actually called. Heck, until I got here, I didn't think other worlds even existed.
