General, I've got good news and bad news. Got somewhere private enough that we can talk?

So, uh, I got a question for you guys. Anybody know where I can get a sword around here? Mine seems to have not made the trip with me and it feels weird to not have it, so...[sheepish look is go] I'd just really appreciate it if I could get a new one or something. Or if somebody could tell me they've seen my old one. It's about six feet long, weighs around 50 pounds...pretty hard to miss, but I can't find it anywhere.

...I don't think you can... get any... but there is a floor where you can make your own, I think, if you're proficient in metalworking...

[And off goes the feed. When Sephiroth gets to the library, Zack will be waiting just outside the study room furthest from the main entrance to the floor, materia bangle gently glowing on his wrist as his foot taps. Nervous energy? Something like that.]

...You... might be able to... find someone who can? Somewhere? I don't know.

[Equius is 100% mentally stable right now, yep. Why do you ask?]

That's probably the best idea, actually. [sheepish look.] Thanks, man.

[Zack is...not actually noticing? He's never met Equius before so he's kind of assuming he's just shy or something. Whoops.]

Only if you tell me where the heck my wrench went.

[Sephiroth gestured the SOLDIER go on in, then ducked in perhaps behind him, quietly but firmly closing the door behind him. Looking at his pup, he cocked an eyebrow; he'd only seen Zack fidget so once or twice before, and the end result hadn't been pleasant.]

All right, what is it?

...Er, you're welcome.

[He is, technically. But spending eight days basically sitting around and waiting to have a nervous breakdown, which would then reach around into a murderous rampage every so often, has kind of taken a toll on his psyche.]

Did you. Um. Just come here?

[He mentioned the sword was six feet long, and that was enough for Equius to approximate into troll measurements, even if he didn't really... know what determined a foot from a meter on Earth. Even when he's on the verge of mental collapse he still has to be a little math genius.]

[Then it's probably a bad thing the fidgeting hasn't stopped, Zack looking very much like he wants to start pacing. Or hit something. Probably both.]

Good news, this place has everything we need to survive for a long time if we can't find a way back. Bad news...[Sigh. Gods. Where does he start?] There are monsters on at least a few floors that I could get to at night. Have you found your sword yet?

[A moment of staring because kitty-thing is talking, but then Zack shakes his head. Not the strangest thing you've seen, Fair, get over it.]

You try a tool box? Or the trunk by your bed? I found the rest of my stuff in there.

[OKAY YES HE'S A LOMBAX STOP STARING. Man, he's been getting that a lot with the new guys lately. It's starting to be a little annoying.]

--what trunk? My stuff's been here the whole time and nobody told me?

[Well pardon the new guys for not ever seeing a Lombax before! You'd stare too, you know.]

I...guess so? There's a trunk at the foot of every bed in the dorm rooms, and mine had my stuff in it. I'm guessing yours does, too.

I didn't think anything was gonna be in there!

[Eight days of waiting for a nervous breakdown would wreak havoc on anyone's psyche, really, so it's understandable. Sadly, Zack is not seeing those signs just yet...maybe if he'd been here before the change took place, he'd see them, but as it is...no dice.]

Yeah. Got here a couple of days ago. Still trying to figure this place out a little more.

[And stop getting lost after nightfall. That's going to take some time.]

[Sephiroth blinked at the question, still processing the fact that there were vermin...inside the bloody place.]

--what? Oh. ...no, now that I think on it, but then I assumed it would be in my quarters as it always is. I haven't needed it. [Yet was understood.]

And what sort of creatures are we talking about here?

Hey, it can't hurt to check, can it? Never know what you'll find.

[Hopefully curiosity doesn't turn around and bite them both in the behind, though.]

[He's doesn't immediately respond, having turned away from the terminal long enough to start digging through his trunk. And sure enough, he pulls out a large wrench, a wide smile appearing on the Lombax's face.]

Well, son of a quark. It was here the whole time!

[Wrench in hand, he hops back up to the terminal, suddenly looking a thousand times brighter than he had been.]

Hey, thanks, pal.

You're gonna wanna find it soon, then. Especially if you've got any plans of looking around. Anything after the fifth floor is...tricky.

[sigh. Debrief, Fair. Just like old times.]

Weird things. There were these...globs of darkness, I guess, in some places. Those tried to chew my feet off. [making a face now.] The other thing I ran into was a hand of some kind, but it was sticking out of the wall and it tried to grab me. Neither of 'em liked fire spells, though.

[Hence why he's wearing his materia bangle now, instead of relying on his fists.]

[...oookaay that wouldn't have fit in a regular toolbox but it's obviously important so have a grin, kitty-thing. At least something worked out!]

Glad to help. [A short pause; manners, Fair! Your mother taught you better than this.] My name's Zack, by the way. Zack Fair.

[Odd, because he'd not encountered any belligerence on his reconnaissance. Leave it to Zack to encounter all the trouble. But he was capable, Sephiroth knew that.]

Mmm. Noted. [Then a small frown.] Speaking of, where's yours?

[Leave it to Zack to encounter all the trouble, wanderlust, insomnia, and drive to find shinies. Yep. He's a troublemaker, this pup. As for the question...icon-pose.]

I can't find it anywhere. And I've looked just about everywhere I can think of, even under my bed. It's why I asked if you'd found yours yet.

[Ah well, he won't be missing much. This loser was kind of neurotic and wimpy in the first place.]

A few days ago... oh...

[Then he would have arrived in the middle of the Labyrinth. Too late to come in, yes.]

...um, also, you could try asking for it in the box on the bottom floor... that's a request box. And, usually, what you request does come to you in time.
