[Welp, whatever Pokerface he had flew out the window along with everything else. At the very least, his jaw didn't totally drop, but he looks surprised.

Oh fuck. No. Okay. You can do this Dave. You just...don't ever tell him that he dies. He's ten times sure of himself that Bro is far enough that being dead isn't a thing. Why tell a guy he's gonna die when he doesn't need to know? Forget the fact that he's still kind of sore about the subjects. It's cool. Everything is cool. Brush it off. Ain't even a thing.]

Sucks. Because one of the swords in my trunk is broken. But I guess it isn't shit tier like the rest of the swords I had. This one is supposed to be some royal, legendary sword. Except I want to call bullshit since it still broke on me, but whatever.

Hell, he probably would've seen it under normal circumstances. The fact he's looking so hard means it's probably visible from outerspace. But still, he at least lets Dave continue on, he lets him at least pretend for a few seconds longer that he was completely oblivious to that little slip up.

But then when Dave is finally finished, Bro draws in a slow, deep breath.]

Yea, okay. You got me. Color me surprised. I sometimes forget that this place can actually snag us from earlier parts of the timeline. I'm kind of used to everyone being on the same page or even farther ahead of me. [Haha, except there's no way you can be ahead of him. Sob.]

Right... Sure, Dave. Except you've been here... How long? I think you said a few months. Which gives you plenty of time to get used to the different timeline thing. Also you said you have time traveling powers, which means my being from the past shouldn't be a big deal at all.

I'll give you the different universe thing, but given that it's obvious I'm not from a different universe, you had no reason to look at me like that.

[To his credit, he sounds calm not accusatory, despite the fact he's just caught Dave in a lie. He doesn't understand why Dave would lie, but the fact he is, is starting to make him a little bit more worried than angry. Normally he wouldn't be worried, but considering the circumstances? He feels it's within his right to be, even if he isn't showing it on the outside.]

So why the lying?

It's one thing to use stable time loops to further a game with only a chance of screwing over a few people. It's another thing to condemn an entire tower of people into a shitty ending that will cease to exist because I did something ridiculously stupid. [Frankly. Dave was scared of even trying to use his time powers here. He didn't know how steep the consequences would be.]

He's quiet for a few seconds as he considers everything Dave says. And even as he talks, there are still way too many holes in his explanation to make sense. Call him paranoid, he doesn't care.]

I say you're lying. And I'd like to know why the fuck you're lying to me, Dave. Because that story has way too many holes in it to be believable. You're from the end of the game, yeah? So you'd have enough experience with these time loops and shit. A few months away isn't enough to cause that much of a little panic.

[He still sounds calm, but there's an edge creeping into it.]

I don't know. [He admits it fine. He has no fucking clue where he is on the timeline at this point. He only saw a glimpse of green and he ended up here. You know, after willfully going to get himself blown up with Rose. That's also something that won't really get talked about if he can help it. He was scared.] I don't know where in the game I'm in anymore, but I'm pretty sure it's far from the end.

[Dave knows for a fact he didn't even bother touching up on anything else and pretty sure Bro is going to keep pushing for those subjects.]

[The fact that Dave is clearly beating around the bush is starting to be really, glaringly obvious. It was obvious before, yeah, but now it's just... It's a good thing he has his shades on, or the glare from the obvious would cause him to go blind. It's safe to say that his paranoia is starting to be justified.]

Dave. I'm really not in the fucking mood for this. I've just been taken from the game, which from all that I know about it- which isn't a whole fucking lot, but I know enough- should be impossible. I'm not saying that I'm fucking scared, but I'd go so far as to say I wouldn't blame a normal guy if he was scared.

[Take note he's basically implying that, yeah, he's scared. Or at the very least, worried.]

You're obviously way the fuck ahead of me, you've had time to get used to this fancy time traveling horseshit. Even if you hadn't, you're a fucking Strider, and if I can handle the fact there's apparently a whole damn lot of you running around this tower, then you can handle the fact that I'm a little fucking behind.

[He draws in a deep breath, letting it out slowly. He's trying very, very hard not to get pissy.]

Tell me the fucking truth. Now.

[Wow, this isn't really awkward anymore so much as everything is suddenly really tense. Dave hasn't even been in the game for the past few months. While he wanted to get back to the game, it wasn't like what was going on in it was something on the top of his mind.]

Sorry, Bro, but that isn't something I'm interested in doing.

[At least he's not beating around the bush. Now he's just outright not willing to say anything.]

I don't know what you want me to tell you, but if you really want that information, you're gonna have to try other means to get it out of me.

[At that, Bro can feel his anger rising and his body tensing up, an automatic response at being challenged. It wasn't something he was expecting from Dave, not now of all times. Between all of the shit going on, he's so very far from being in the mood for this. He clenches his fist, biting down hard on his tongue to prevent himself from saying a cutting remark.

He wants more than anything to go over to the trunk and grab his sword, because Striders just don't fucking back down from a challenge. But there's a part of him that knows if he strifes with Dave now, it would be in anger and he might hurt the kid, and he doesn't want to do that. Not like that, not under these circumstances. He knows there has to be a reason that Dave's lying, he doesn't want to force it out of him. If anything, he just wants Dave to willingly tell him the truth.

It takes a lot of willpower, but finally he takes a deep, calming breath and lets out out slowly, willing his body to relax. He shrugs, throwing up his hands.]

Whatever, I'm not playing your stupid little games. If you don't wanna tell me, fine. It must not've been too important. Maybe this place's just made you soft.

[He didn't mean to let the last, bitter remark out, but it came out anyway. He swallows, turning away from Dave and sitting heavily on his bed, kicking a stray smuppet out of the way as he does so.]

[Dave knew he was really pushing Bro's patience at this point. This could either work out for the better or end rather disastrously.

He was a little surprised that Bro didn't actually act on the challenge. At least, he would have preferred the strife than the biting remark that followed. That feeling that he didn't reach his Bro's expectations or that he's disappointed the other already stung more than any cut his sword could have made. A chance to prove he's gotten better and he's already blew it.]

I guess it did. [He just shoved his hands into his pockets, head tilting down as he slouched, trying to pass it off as just bad posture.] Played me like a little wind up toy. [Of course that's only funny if you were stuck in the pods, but it's actually not that funny. Jason's pod slowly just turned into a pod of fucked up living toys.] Did you want that tour or are you just going to brave the floors by yourself? Lone wolf that shit like no one's business.

[He really, really didn't mean to say that and a part of him regrets it already, but he's still too pissed to apologize. It doesn't stop his stomach from feeling heavy when Dave speaks, the cold weight of guilt sinking to the pit of his stomach. He shouldn't have said it and he knows that. Maybe it's best though, if he just tries to... move on from it. The two of them can just forget about it.

It's difficult though, when the kid's blatantly lying to him. He's still angry about it, and as guilty as he feels, the anger isn't going away.]

I dunno. Why the hell would I want a liar for a tour guide? I don't know if I can trust you to give me all the facts.

Okay.

That kind of really stung. Dave kind of just goes quiet and stands there for a moment, not even sure what to say on the matter. Maybe he should leave. Abscond back to the media room or something. Get out of Bro's hair. Bro can handle himself after all.]
