Does this mean that all of the universes where I'm from were destroyed, or just the one I was currently in?

All interconnected universes are destroyed at once. It's quite unfortunate in those instances.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't saving people from all the different multiverses take a lot of energy? Why are you expending so much effort to save those of so many different worlds? What is the intended aim of all of these experiments?
